How does it work?
I have a question for you car detail experts.
How do detailing sprays, such as Mothers Showtime actually work (making the car shinier) .. ?? * removes dust/dirt .. ?? * adds a layer of a wax like substance .. ?? * rejuvenates the wax that is already on the car ..?? * removes some discolored wax ..?? * other ..?? Also, are there any downsides to it's continued use..?? TIA humfrz Last edited by humfrz; 09-03-2016 at 05:04 PM. |

Sort of a broad topic there are different products on the market under the umbrella of "instant detailer". Essentially most are used for the following tasks:
Lubricity when removing light dust or fingerprints. (ideally) Light post wash gloss enchancement or lubricity while drying. Clay Lube. I would not want to use an instant detailer for heavy cleaning tasks if you have heavy dirt and grit, its much preferable to look to rinseless wash. In terms of composition most are likely to be some type of gloss enhancing polymer and some lubricating oils, although some contain wax. Some products have synergy to amplify the existing protection layer. Then there are products like Sonax Brilliant Shine detailer that is really more of a spray sealant. Instant detailer will likely not remove dried wax, and there are no downsides to speak off for repeated usage. I hope that answers your question as detailed as possible.
