A/C completely shut off...

Here's what happened... In 92 degree heat I drove to work (Hour and a half) with the A/C on full blast the whole way. My drive back home at 11pm I did not use the A/C at all. Today I get in the car and start my drive to work but only hot air comes out of the vent when I turn on the A/C. Both the A/C and recerc lights are on for full blast cool air, but not even the sniff of cold coming from the vent. So my hour and a half drive to work was full of hot air. I tried turning it on multiple times during the trip but still only hot air.

I am guessing a fuse or relay went out, but after spending a hour at work on google, I could not find where that fuse or relay is located on the car. Hopefully I am just blind and someone can just laugh at me. Otherwise I hope my compressor didn't kick the bucket when my car is barely a year old.

Anyone else have this issue happen? or know how to fix it?

Does the air conditioning compressor come on when you press the A/C button?

(Do you hear a "clunk" and see the idle drop a few hundred RPM?)

I am still at work right now, but I will check in about 45 minutes when I am off work and on my way home. What if there is a clunk? I am guessing that no clunk means the system isnt working at all

I suggest you turn on the A/C and look to see if the clutch on the compressor engages.

At idle, when the compressor engages, you should feel/hear the engine pull down a bit.

Also, I suggest you check the fuse. It's a 50 amp fuse in the #5 slot (top right) in the fuse box under the hood. It's location is shown on page #256 (at least in my FR-S manual) of the driver's manual.

DANG, we got more 90+ degree stuff coming our way ..... I hope you get er to cool you down!

I had that happened to me when Torque decided to be an asshole and made my car throw a OBD malfunction code. I cleared the code, turned off the car, started the car and the AC was cold again.
