FR-S/BRZ VS. WRX???
Ok we don't know the price of the toyobaru yet BUT, if the price is the same as an 2012 WRX, why not buy a WRX? im personaly still on the fence. i know the toyobaru is cool and all but my 07' WRX is awesome. and I love how the wide body 2012' 5 door looks! its gonna be a very hard decision for me...
bring the hate on!

well your trying to compare apples to oranges
would you rather have 4 doors or 2 doors? would you rather have a small compact car or a mid sized sedan? would you rather have n/a or turbo would you rather have RWD or AWD would you rather have 30mpg hwy or 26mpg hwy you cant accurately say one car is better than the other across similarly priced vehicles. One car will be better fit on a per-person per situation base. the wrx and the BRZ are two very different cars and are aimed at very different people with very different needs.

They might be aimed at two different people WoW, but look at it this way:
I have an old ass WRX. I want a sweet new BRZ. I have $25000. The are priced (estimated) the same. I can buy a sweet new BRZ at MSRP or I can buy a brand-spanking new WRX at $1000+ below MSRP. I get a hell of a lot more car for my money with the WRX. 265hp stock, AWD, 5-door hatch... I don't know, sounds pretty fucking good. I could go a lot faster and get pushed into my seat more; especially considering how easily these new 2.5L WRX engines get to 300ish whp/wtq. At this price range, people aren't necessarily concerned if the cars they are cross-shopping are based in two different segments, they're cross-shopping based on price. |

But like i said, its a case by case. per-person..per scenario. Someone is shopping for RWD only car at that price range? Someone is shopping for any car for that price range? Someone is shopping for turbo car for that price range? ect...the variables are endless.. OrbitalEllipses, we are still trying to compared apples to oranges, even if both cost 2cents, what do you want? what do you need? what taste better to you? ect.. **BTW i love how we can have these kinds of subaru discussions here without garbage in our threads unlike sifting through all the mush in NASIOC**

retunes are nice but that costs money. if you want to allow the price of the wrx to creep up like that i could just replace v6 with gt and once again it gets left behind. 4 doors are nice...ill give you that one but its a small victory if you dont absolutely need 4 doors |

some people absolutely need 4 doors and awd, and resale value,
some want to be practicle, economical and sporty too I know many people in Washington place the value of a Mustang very low compared to other cars with much less performance. in contrast i know quite a bit of people in LA that holds no value in a WRX, and the mustang is a better purchase for their environment. If i was in the market for a 370z, id have bought a v6 mustang and been happier. If i was in the market for a Corvette, id have bought a GTR and been happier.

If you want more of a rally car and want to drive on dirt roads or if you live in areas of bad weather most of the year, get a WRX. If you want more a economical sports car that gets good gas milage get A FR-S or BRZ. I want a economical sports car to drive everyday in So Cal. If I want to drive on dirt roads or snowy conditions , I will drive my Tacoma 4x4. I'm fortunate to have that luxury.

I would pick BRZ for its less-practicality.

Retune WRX to 300whp? I don't think so. It would require 430hp at the crank.
BRZ has more power to weight than the WRX, and by retuning you lose engine warranty. With current 2.5L - I would not want to own it w/o warranty. I might consider a new WRX with 2.0 or 1.6 engine, if they still have a hatch. And there's already a long thread on this. |

Anyone know the whp of a stock WRX?
If they are priced the same give or take a thousand bucks, hate to say it but the WRX is a far better value. |
