Lets dumb this down for me.. Rim size
Hey guys. So I've posted once before and decided to give this a try although I might get some negative feedback because the info is probably already out there. Anyways, I have a FR-S on the stock 17" rims at stock height and stock everything else. I want 18" rims and also want to go a little wider. Maybe 18X8.5? Anyways, I don't want to have to change ANYTHING about raising or lowering or fenders. All I want are 18" rims that are the same width all the way around. How wide can I go without changing anything else? There's a lot of stuff out there on the forums but I just don't understand all of the measurements in the wheel and tire forums.
Thanks, Zach |

If you don't understand. Search and learn it. It's really not that hard.
If it is too hard, just go into a wheel shop or tirerack.com and they will pick the right sizes for you. Also look in the sticky topics on the top of http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=24 There are three basic measurements. 1. diameter = you have that figured out. 2. width = not too difficult 3. offset (or backspacing) = learn it, or have a shop figure it out. Or just copy someone else's setup. |

18x8 or 8.5 +35. 225/40 or 235/40 rubber and you're good to go.

To add to what Bergen said above.
Anything that's between 18" x (7.5" to 8.5")width + (35-50)offset... ...and you'll be good sticking with stock everything else. A heads up, the offset is how "flush" it'll be. So the closer it is to +35 then the flusher it'll be. For tires.. Just go with whatever size the shop tell you after you pick out the rims you want. They won't steer you wrong. Good luck. And post picks after in the "what did you do today thread"
