Possible Cricket Fix... no promises

So, I was sitting on my couch watching Empire. Got a phone call. It was Frank from Sunset Subaru in Sarasota Florida. He told me that he just got an email about a possible cricket fix for the BRZ. It requires more than just replacing the fuel pump (which I am on #3). I am bringing it Monday. He said that they will use my car as a test platform to see if it works, and if it does, release a TSB for a permanent fix. No this is not a troll. No I cannot guarantee that this will work. All I can say is what I was told by the service manager. Ill keep you all posted.

I heard about this...

You go in, they tell you how great your car is, and that they can get you into a new/different car for what you're paying now!

Once you trade in the frs for another car, no more crickets!

Why would anyone risk them changing more parts on a car for something so...small?

I'd be more afraid of them fucking up something. The less your car is in the hands of a mechanic, the safer it is.

so your service manager is smarter than the hundreds of engineers at toyota and subaru and maybe the manufacturer of the fuel pump? GOOD LUCK I hope he is.

I've never experienced the crickets, but I'm always hearing about these bugs. I think it's because the spiders where I live are pigs. Not sure. Either way, glad I don't have them!

Sarcastic pricks like you are what makes people NOT want to post anything. Did I say that the service manager was smarter than anyone? NO. I said he got an email from their corporate office suggesting a possible fix. Gee. Seriously. People are such douche bags when they can hide behind their keyboard.

I already had that done at a Toyota dealership. Engineers from both Toyota and Subaru flew in and had an entire foam part fabricated to fit the pump and go around the lines. It doesn't help so I removed it and gave up on the issue as a whole. They had my car for 3 days total.

Interested to see what happens @FloridaBRZ. Good luck. Toyota was using my car as the "test subject" for the foam insulation and it failed.

K. For anyone that cares or doesn't want to make a snarky comment....
Brought my car in today to have the fix done. Before she went under the knife, I found out what they were planning on doing. I know the cricket sound comes from the plunger sticking. Apparently Subaru installed a new HPFP and a new plate. The plunger rests on this plate and its supposed to help. Also, they replaced the left side valve cover with something bigger to help insulate any sound. This is what I was told by my service manager. Do I think he is smarter than a Subaru or Toyota engineer? NO. I am merely sharing my experience. He asked me to call him if the crickets didn't return after 1k miles.

I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks for trying. Don't get perturbed so easily. Everyone above my post was doing the same thing and you decide to get upset over my post? RELAX. I really do hope the fix does work. But its been 2 years and hundreds of fuel pumps have been replaced. I don't want to hold my breath over another possible "fix". All the fixes so far have been band-aids and it always comes back, while some have been lucky and have no problems.

The Fix is moving to Europe our fuel doesn't make our fuel pump chirp unless you go to the UK than they will appear ^^ I really hope this fix solves the problem for the people in the US/UK though.
