OpenFlash Tablet my only option? (Mac OS X user)
As a pure OSX user is my only tuning option for a BRZ an OpenFlash Tablet? I'm new to all this ODBII tuning. With previous ECUs, aftermarket standalone units, I've been able to use Linux software as they've been programmed through an RS232 port.

tuning software is not processor intensive so worst case just buy a el-cheapo netbook running windows for tuning stuff for probably less than $300 or what ever equivalent that is in pounds. The openflash OFT guys run mac's If your not going boosted the OFT is pretty hard to beat value wise |

Importing an OFT works out cheaper than ECUTek + laptop. But would the ECUTek be a better option if going forced induction? It seems a better option to spend more and gain more flexibility.

but only those specific kits at present. OFT is on sellable as you can unmarry from you car and sell to new owner not only brz/86 but porche bmw mazda of supported vehicles. but if you definity going fi and dont want either of those kits offered by oft then yes ecutek would be better as you more likly to find a tuner who will tune fi with ecutek. if you not going fi then oft is best value arround |

If you want to edit anything, or pull logs, etc from OFT you'll need windows as well.
OpenFlash Manager works fine with VMWare (I've used it), and IIRC the EcuTek software works fine through a virtual machine as well.

What got me worried was this from the ECUTek website - "Running software inside a virtual machine such as VMware, VirtualBox or Parallels is not supported."

You can run any of it from a VM easily, they're just not going to give you support on it understandably.

I've only found a couple programs that won't run virtualized, but for the most part everything runs great.

You could use OpenPort 2.0 as well... Much cheaper but not as straight plug and play as an OFT.

Honestly, I haven't a clue. I've gone home-brew for both turbo builds I've done. I'm actually wanting to keep the power down this time, my Elise was at 270bhp/ton, but to my mind was too much PWR to enjoy the car on the street. I was thinking about keeping it to 220-235bhp.
