Can you tell us how these are different than OEM or something like Centric blanks? Obviously they're drilled and slotted, but is there anythings else?

Sector 27 Brake Rotors FAQ



What do the slots in the rotors provide: The gas-slot pattern evacuates heat gas and dust during extreme braking conditions to reduce brake fade.
Why are there holes drilled into the rotors? Designed for the “appearance” customer who insists on a drilled/slotted rotor. Perfectly suited for a car show competitors where “looks” are everything. (Drilled rotors are not recommended for performance or severe duty use.)
Why are the holes beveled? The holes and slots are chamfered/beveled to reduce brake pad abrasion and provide a smoother transition as the brakes are applied.
With the wide variety of Sector 27 Rotor kits containing pads and rotors how do I determine the right kit for my vehicle? The Sector 27 Rotors kits are offered in the following ways;
Sector 27/HPS Package. This package is ideal for performance street driven cars, the rotors are packaged with the popular HPS brake pads.
Sector 27/High Performance Street 5.0 Package. Is for the driver that uses their street car harder and demands additional braking performance.
Sector 27/LTS Package. The LTS package will be the choice for those driving a truck or SUV.
All of the above packages can be purchased for the front or rear of a vehicle, they can also be ordered as a complete kit with rotors and pads for the front and rear.
The Sector 27 Rotors are sold in pairs, is it possible to purchase a single rotor? No.
What is warranty on the Sector 27 rotors? The Sector 27 Rotors are covered by the Hawk Performance Limited Lifetime Warranty.
What is the wear expectancy of the Sector 27 Rotors? The wear of the Sector 27 Rotors will be determined by many factors such as driving style. The zinc coating is used to prevent rust, the precise manufacturing process using the finest materials to the tightest tolerances ensure a long life.

Thanks for the quick response, guys. I'm hoping for some quantifiable data. Do you have any of that?
It seems to me there's not much performance difference between most OEM fitment aftermarket rotors. For example, DBA 4000 Series (or whatever they are) cost nearly three times as much as basic blanks. I'm sure they're better, but I don't see much difference in braking performance between them. Any differences in real-world performance seem to be minuscule at best.
So, that said, can anyone tell me in a quantifiable way how these Hawk rotors are better than cheap blank discs from Centric or similar? I like Hawk and would gladly buy these if I could justify it.

Well for the DBA's, they handle braking heat and stress much better than OEM's especially in terms of motorsport where you can quickly warp the factory rotors under harsh heating conditions. The same would apply to these Hawk rotors.

As far as quantifiable data we don't have any personally as we run a BBK on our shop FRS. However those of you who may be currently using these rotors are more than welcomed to chime in.

Thanks, Jeff. I'm looking forward to others' thoughts as well.
I've run blanks and Zimmerman slotted and/or drilled for the last 15 years. I probably have about 100 track days and could never tell a difference between them other than maybe a slight grinding noise on the non-blanks. I've tried both on a highly tuned A4, Boxster S, E30 and now BRZ (OEM only). I've never had a problem with rotors warping, regardless of what they are.
