Speaker baffels/protection

Hey guys I just recently purchased a pair of 6.5" Infinity speakers for door replacements. The doors seem to get water in them pretty easily. My question is has anyone had first hand experience using speaker baffels or any other form of protection to protect the speakers. And has the sound quality decreased or remained the same using it?

I am using boom mat baffles with the backs cut out. When I pulled my doors most recently after about 1 yr installed they still look new. I also used second skin audio speaker tweakers. Sounds nice.

I'm getting some baffles soon, and I'll be cutting out the bottom half. If you look through the hole where your 6.5 goes you'll see a column above it where water channels directly onto your speaker! The stock speakers came well protected, but one of my jbl's crapped out me recently, most likely due to water damage. I've had them in since October 2012, and one finally gave out.

I've used baffles in the past and if you cut them open, sound quality is not muffled and stifled. Baffles are definitely a good idea.. and while you have the door panel out, deadening the shit out of the doors help a ton. Good luck.

My doors are pretty well deadened but I need to pull them again to give more attention to the switch panel. I think a good layer of damplifer all around it will work.
Anyways, I never ran without the baffles tbh. But mine sounds good to me.

baffels with the bottom or back cut out are the best. people have also used a ziplock bag and placed it above the speaker leaving the bottom exposed.

Thanks for the replies, looks like I'm going to pickup some speaker baffles and cut them in half I might add some sound deadening while I'm at it also
