Prep for forced induction

Hi guys,

I plan to go Avo Stage 2 Turbo kit in about 6 months and i am trying to do all my prep ( everything thats needs installed before turbo ) now.

My powers goals are 280 WHP to achieve this i will be buying the following:

Avo Turbo Kit with ceramic coating.
Avo Breather System
3 bar map sensor
Clutch
Oil cooler

Oil cooler will be going on the car when the turbo kit is i want to reframe from removing the front bumper more times than i have to.

My questions are:

Pistons and rods do i need them for my power levels? I think not but would like your thoughts on this.

Brakes, do i need a BBK or will discs, pads, SSL and fluid swap be enough i do not track the car nor will i be in the future.

What other supporting mods would you install yourself to keep the car reliable as possible.

Thank you very much guys for your help learn so much for this forum and hopefully about to learn more.

With what you said no tracking then you've already covered the needs. No need for brakes etc..

The only thing from your supporting mods list I'd ensure of is that your Oil Cooler is thermostatically controlled "at least I would"..

Under 300 RWHP you should not require any internals. Your main concern should be a quality tuner who will tune your kit to a safe and reliable margin. Not knowing shops where you live leaves out a suggestion for that portion.

Under 300whp won't require internals on the engine to be done, as long as your tune is solid.

My own personal list would be this:

Pad/Rotor upgrade because it's really easy to get up to speed on the street
Clutch (Stage 1 organic is enough)
Oil Cooler (I went FBM so it didn't block the intercooler)
Boost Gauge
AFR Gauge
Exhaust (overpipe, front pipe, cat back)
Intake (panel filter is fine)

You can easily do your fuel pump instal before hand. Make sure it is running right well before the avo kit is added. Same with the clutch. May also consider getting any scanning/guages you may need before-hand.

If you think you will need a bigger radiator, better do it now before you go FI. Install is a breeze when NA but a PITA once you go FI because of all the additional piping

I'd start by selecting a differant turbo kit, then (depending on power lvl) get supporting mods.

Just a turbo kit and tune should get you 260-280, start throwing in exhuast injectors fuel pump etc you can get 350 on pump 500 on e85. Of ourse by that point you'll want a built block.

Etc

More power = money^n

I'm in the process of doing the same kit... I would suggest a full exhaust, OP/FP and catback.

My question is oil cooler... how necessary is it? Mine will be DD zero to very little track use.
