Identifying TRD springs

Hello everyone!

I just bought a 2013 fr-s and my brother picked it up for me on Monday because I am on active duty orders and won't be home until early May. She's just going to sit in the garage until I get home. He said the car seems lowered and since he doesn't know much about cars, I asked him to send me pictures of the suspension to see what the car has. they look like something OEM and if they are do you guys know how much of a drop they provide?
The car has the TRD exhaust installed so I could guess that the springs may be a TRD spring?
I was planning on going with Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs but if these are comfortable and provide a similar drop, then ill just keep them on.

Anyways Ill attach images of them to see if you guys can help me identify them.

Those are either TRD or Eibach.

They look like either the TRD lowering springs or the Eibach Sportlines. They're both red springs that come with the little black rubber sleeve. Incidentally, they're both made by Eibach.

The TRD springs are a little bit less than an inch. The Sportlines are ~1.4 inches. There's usually a tiny bit of branding some place on the springs.

What would you guys suggest doing? Keeping these springs or trying something else. I ordered a set of XXR 527's 18x8.75 +35 and I am aiming for a flush, fitted look without losing ride quality because this will be my DD.

Keep the springs for now. You just got the car. Take some time to figure out if you like how things are, or if you want to make changes.

For argument's sake, if you have the Sportlines already installed, there's not a whole lot of point in swapping to another set of springs if you're just trying to lower the car. If you already have the TRDs already installed, I wouldn't swap in the Sportlines since they tend to be harsher and harder on the OEM struts. Some folks run them and like them, but I need the bump travel. The roads here are garbage.

If you're still dissatisfied with how low it is in a couple of weeks/months, then I'd consider getting coilovers. You can go even lower, and (if you choose a good set) they can be comfortable. A pretty safe bet would be to go with a quality manufacturer.

If you're satisfied with the ride height, mazel tov. Aftermarket dampers are another upgrade option, if you just want to improve damping of your current suspension setup. Or you could just leave it as is. It's your world.

You should be pretty close to flush in the front with either of those springs, but the obvious difference would be the amount of wheel gap. It may or may not bother you. It wouldn't bother me.

Be warned, some wheel size/offsets will not play nicely with the stock strut size, and will require coilovers to fit. Anything wider than 9" and greater than +42 offset can be iffy depending on the size of your tires. The ones you've chosen should be fine.

Regardless, you're going to lose some ride quality going up to 18s.

Knowing me, I will probably end up going to coilovers. I started with springs on my Acura RSX and ended up getting Megan Racing coilovers because I wanted it lower. Ill just have to look into it once I actually get to use the car in May. Thank you for the help!

The trd Springs have the part number printed on them in white with either an f at the end for front or an r for rear. If you really wanted to know you could ask your brother to wipe it down to identify. I have the trd Springs (incase you were curious as to how I know). Enjoy your car!

TRD say TRD on all four. Either way they are good springs

If you end up pulling these and they are TRD I want first crack at them. lol. Trying to get a discounted set of TRD or Eibach Pro!

I'm probably going to be swapping out the exhaust as well. So keep an eye out for that

Is it just me, or do those springs not appear seated properly on the strut base?

Either way, I'd say keep both the exhaust and springs. They are minor and tame mods that won't drastically change the oem feel with any sacrifice so you can get used to what you like and don't like...

Get back, drive the car, see what you like or don't like and THEN decide what you need to do. You may find that what it has is exactly what you wanted in the first place.
