I was wondering what is the weight difference between carbon fiber panels and regualr OEM panels
Not sure if there is any substantial diff, but I couldn't find anything on the vendors any ideas? |

Hood and trunk are already aluminum, so you're not going to save much weight there.
Fenders and doors, you'd prolly save a good deal of weight, but replacing your doors, you'd better have a full roll cage for crash safety purposes. Roof... what do you plan on doing? cutting out stock roof and replacing w/ a custom carbon panel? What's your goal? bling? full on track-only build? show car?

Cost and repair ability, would be one reason not to go carbon fibre. Making moulds with all the needed return flanges, is expensive too, even if you splash existing parts. It's doable, but not the easiest thing to do, and keep light.

Im surprised people havent weighed their cf panels vs. stock. There are quite a few on here that have gone cf on hoods, trunks, and much of the front clip.

most "carbon fiber" things for this car will weight MORE than stock pieces.
Usually "CF" is just fiberglass/frp with carbon fiber+gel and/or clear coat. A completely real carbon fiber part for our cars would be strong and lightweight, but would be VERY expensive. 99% of the hoods and trunks you'll see are not true 100% cf Look for weight reduction in other areas instead(battery, wheels, flywheel, driveshaft, seats, airbag deletes etc) |

It's very light. That's all you need to really know... Prepeg is expensive.
