What to do (srs)

I dont know what to do. My car was parked nicely and it looked beautiful after the rain when i was walking towards it. Then Noticed a banged up honda accord behind it with many dents and fake carbon fiber hood.

His front bumper was in contact with my rear bumper.(he left it in PARK like that) with plenty of space behind him

I took pictures of his car riding my cars ass. I moved the car and now have multiple scratches. It looks like he dug into the paint with his plates multiple times. I took pics of his car and mine.

WHAT DO? leave a note or what

will post pics shortly

to moderators, if this is not the right place please forgive me

You should of reported it to the police right there and then...they would take pictures and measure the marks. It's a hit and run. It's going to be harder to prove now since it's just pictures...but if the police were actually there... then they would had pinned it on the other guy.

All you can do now is file a comprehensive claim for "hit and run" with a police report, pay your deductible and get it repainted.

If the car is still there...call 911 immediately and say "I just returned back to my car and found another car lodged into my bumper!!"

take pictures infront and behind your car, get his licence plate number + VIN number, phone it into your local police department. They will file an accident report which you can take to your insurance company, you will instruct them that you were parked and this person hit you and they you want to file a claim against them (do not use your insurance to fix it, they will hold it against you, your rate will go up).

He could just say that, but that doesn't mean he will..

If it were me, I would pursue justice (not to sound corny).

It's not the cops job to tell you that anyways, its his job to take the police report.

Sanding and touchup paint would be the cheapest - but it won't look perfect. Actually, judging by the pictures, the actual ABS plastic is damaged.. so.. ya.. I would be demanding a new bumper and it painted. That's $500+ and worthy of claiming against his insurance.

You live in New York (probably in the city as well judging by the fact that the cops told you to get a bumper guard). This shit will happen unless you're super vigilant about where you drive and park your car. People have no respect for your personal property in NYC and I've witnessed many many times people will use the bumpers as bumpers to parallel park. It's just a fact of living in NYC.

It sucks to park in the streets at NYC cause people like to touch bumpers when they park. Even in the parking lots, sometimes I take 2 spaces cause I just can't trust the other people.
