The Zodiac Killer

Just watched the movie and am very intrigued by it. I love learning about this sort of stuff. Criminal Minds is one of my favorite shows.

I've talked to people saying that Arthur Leigh Allen definitely wasn't the killer, but all the evidence points to him. Anyone else intrigued by this case? I'm not sure we'll ever know 100% who it was, but there was a dude that just came out saying his father was the Zodiac Killer. I want to read the book to hear how it isn't Allen. It's just all very interesting to me. What do you all think?

Great movie! David Fincher is a consummate filmmaker. It's gotta be Allen... The Zodiac's only surviving victim ID'd Allen as the person who shot him years earlier. Althought that creepy guy who drew those movie posters matched the handwriting of Zodiac

This is the part that really threw me off. Why is there no further investigation into that guy? It's like he's freaked out by the guy after going to his house, but doesn't pursue him after that.

It's a really interesting case. They did a DNA test about a decade back on the stamp from one of the Zodiac letter envelopes and it did not match Allen. Some have speculated as to why that might be the case, but who knows.

What's the most interesting is that the PD keeps the case "open and active" to this day.

I've heard that the guy who claims his dad is the killer wants to do a DNA test, but the SFPD has denied. That is puzzling.

Here is some creepy shit for ya. My dad worked with Arthur at Ace hardware in Vallejo. Said the guy kept to himself and seemed normal at the time. I don't recall all of the stories about him. My dad talked about investigators coming in one time looking for a writing sample but the manager wouldn't provide one because they did not have a warrant.

Also my dad's eldest brother and sister supposedly stopped some place up at lake Berryessa and made a phone call at a pay phone shortly after the killer. My grandmother said it's true because the local police talked to them about if the saw him or his car. But my dad never really believed the story.

Also got to see some of the filming of the movie when I worked for the city of Vallejo. But the area I saw them did not make it in to the film.

By far the most fascinating killer in American history. I've done my fair share of reading on the subject, starting about 10 years back.

Zodiac is responsible for most likely 10+ murders in the SF area. The police taunting, cyphers, phone calls are something like out of a Hollywood thriller. As sadistic as it sounds, he was brilliant and intelligent in his game.

The problem with the case is there's absolutely no credible leads ANYWHERE. Arthur Allen fits the profile, but there's so much evidence that exonerates him. Multiple searches of his residence proved nothing. DNA analysis & handwriting samples do not match the killer's. It's a dead end lead!

Fact is, unless someone finds a chest in a basement one day of their long passed grandfather with evidence, this case will remain undoubtedly unsolved. Too much time has now passed for this to be solved. People have moved on, details forgotten, and evidence has dissolved over time.

Newest updates of online community investigating the killer is here btw:
