Inex Legends
Anyboy here raced Inex Legends?
Looks like great fun, and I'm keen to give it a go. ![]() I've booked some instruction and an hour on-track practice in two weeks time - to put my toe in the water. However, I'm a little concerned that at 60 years old I might not have quick enough reactions...? So if you've raced Legends, please share your thoughts.

I've known people who went to legends as a stepping stone to ARCA & lower divisions of NASCAR. I've never heard of INEX but I have a hunch it's similar to other amateur leagues.
Definitely go, with any derivative of a stock car you're going to learn car control like nothing else, you can go out and be ridiculously loose (oversteer for the fancy folks) come in spend two minutes making adjustments and go back out ridiculously tight (understeer), with go-karts and regular people cars you kind of just have to drive around the characteristics of the car since you don't have as many adjustments available to you. The trick here is to either enjoy the training session and have that experience or figure out if you want to invest in this. Do you like the environment? Is the reward what you're looking for (in this case plastic trophies and if you're lucky you'll pay for the tires with winnings, oh and that satisfaction thing)? Is it fun? You're definitely not too old, some of the best drivers are old codgers who have decades of experience (my last instructor, while definitely a contender for retiring, gave me the ride of my life in a car older than I am and slower than the FRS before he hot rodded it) and if you're flexible you can take the lessons in a lot quicker than some of the other hammerheads out there. You don't have to make another post, mods should move this post to the appropriate section. |

INEX is the sanctioning body for Legends series. They look like a blast to drive. Always wanted to give one a try. Seems like a pretty inexpensive way to race. They run street tires and should be able to do multiple races on a set and a very reliable motorcycle engine.

But what I really like is that here in South Africa, you can lease a fully prepped car on a race by race (or series) basis. It's delivered to the track, suspension setup done by the works team, prepped, fuelled, and ready to race - you just have to hop in and drive, without any of the hassles and risks of ownership. Also, I live 350-500kms from the racetracks used for the race series, so it then becomes doubly convenient not having to trailer a racecar around the country. ![]() The more I think about it, the more I gotta do it.

They don't quote their prices publicly - they'll all POA, so I'd be wrong to share them here without their permission.
