should i be worried about small amounts of knock?

I live in florida, the land of the flat...Every once in a while when i am not paying attention and i go up a really steep drive, or try and make a u turn on a steep driveway and just give it a lithe gas i have noticed a little knock . I have only noticed this twice thank goodness. Do i need to be worried about the affect of that? This isn't something that happens often. I guess sometimes i just forget I have no torque since i drove a mustang for so long...

Is it knock, or is it the LSD kicking in? From what your describing, sounds more like your LSD...

Nah. If you are worried about Knocks, just ask them if they are or not.

So, you think you hear it? Or are you logging it?

Those don't sound like scenarios that will produce knock. Brief acceleration just doesn't heat anything enough to cause problems from what I've seen. It's WOT pulls through long gears like 3rd or higher that can produce real knock and break parts.

It is not the LSD, trust me I know what that feels like and sounds like...

Have any of you never let the clutch out either too slowly or too quickly with the car at a really low RPM and had it shutter and make a knocking noise? I know what knocking sounds like as I have had several bikes and cars do it in the past...

The problem is your not describing knock. Simply letting a clutch out at low rpm should not create knock inside the motor. Also, if your motor is truly knocking simply from going up a hill, there's a major problem, and no it's not "because I has no torque after driving a mustang"

so you are saying the knock knock knock sound i have heard twice when trying to start from a dead stop up a steep hill with probably too much clutch and not enough throttle is not knock? It doesn't sound any different then my buell trying to take off from a dead stop in traffic with too little throttle and not enough clutch...

So, what your saying is your dumping the clutch without the proper throttle to back it up, thereby starving the motor fuel and almost stalling the car? In that case, yes I would be concerned and learn to properly operate a manual transmission for personal safety reasons...

Either way, stalling a car is not true knock. And all you may do is burn the clutch due to improper use.

You didn't answer the question. Are you nearly stalling the car? I'm guessing that's what you meant by "to much clutch, to little throttle". So, is that correct? Are we talking 800rpms or 200rpms when this "knock" happens?

Not near stalling, thats why I am thinking it is mild knocking. Although, no CEL. I am probably being paranoid, but with the DI seal failures some people have seen I am always slightly worried. I haven't seen too many threads related to that lately, which is probably a good sign.

Quit almost stalling your car and this problem will quit happening.
