Anyone else feel 86 'd from the cool kid club?

Lol so I came from the VW scene before I purchased my 86 and I always felt a sort of camaraderie between fellow dubers. Just a curtious wave as u drive by. That sorta thing. I was just curious if anyone else has been feeling like a black sheep.
I was all excited when I bought my 86. I would wave at both subaru owners as well as TC owners alike. Most of the time the subaru owners ignore me. And the same goes with the TC guys?
What gives? I think the suby guys are like... not AWD... hate it. And the TC guys are just jealous.

Now I must admit. I've linked up with a good group of people on some subaru forums that let me roll around with them in my scion. But as far as just random passing on the road I get the cold shoulder 90% of the time.

What about you guy?

Lol dont worry i get that too sometimes. With the tc guys i can feel a lot of jealousy from them. And as for the brz, sometimes i feel like there is a little competition. Luckily lately i met a lot of nice enthusiast drivers on the road who actually smile and wave now.

rofl this isn't high school

I only got acknowledged by 1 BRZ driver since I've had my car. I got a couple thumb up from random people but all the other BRZ/FRS drivers ignore and/or look confused if I try to wave, beep, flash lights, say hi.

So I ignore everyone else now too unless they try to say what's up

Its about the Sharks (FR-S) and the Jets (BRZ)....

We can't get along!

/breaks into a musical montage

But seriously, both cars are awesome.

I do think the FR-S seems to be more geared to younger buyers, while the BRZ is more to older buyers (maybe I am imagining that?)

I wave to drivers of the twins. And with twins...you can't be "twins" without the other.

I've never met anyone in real life who hated the FRS. I thought it was mostly an internet tough guy thing.

I always get waves/thumbs-up from fellow 86 owners. My wife thinks we're a silly bunch.

I've had guys stop me at gas stations, stop lights, on the highway (a cop!) and pull into my driveway just to chat it up about this car. You won't need to wave and expect a response from anyone. You're so cool, they'll come to you!

On that note, i waved to a white brz once. Completely ignored me.. haha.

I wave to twin owners all the time. Most of them around where I live are kind of confused as to why I'm waving lol Others are just too focused on driving. Thinking too hard about this is kind of silly. I think I get more waves and thumbs up from other sport car drivers than 86 drivers.

i try to wave to other 86 owners and more than half of the time i always get some kindve negative reaction and sometimes they act like im not even there while they rev the hell out of their engine at me. mostly from guys with automatic... how can i tell? i can hear them slapping it into park when they start revving at me.

ive had a few guys wave back and follow me to a nearby place to talk and the funny thing is, they are all manuals.. no offense to the guys with auto but thats the only crowd of owners ive seen do douchey things so far.

cliffs
-see another 86 owner on the road

-pull up next to them
- sup!
-get ignored, hear a loud shift and guess whats about to happen, hear quiet revving
-
-guy floors it and leaves me in the dust
-ok.jpg

I have only seen like two other FR-S/BRZ's on the road... I do get lots of acknowledgements from WRX owners, they seem to get the car.

So true. I used to own a C5 corvette convertible. Back then and most likely now .... ALL Vette owners would wave. I've had my FRS 12 months now .... and only a single wave. Not an issue with me.

Haha my girlfriends the same way. Every time I wave at an frs/brz she says "umm why are you waving at people you don't know weirdo and why are you smiling like a little kid". Lol
