Exhaust tip options (NOT JDM/TRD)?

Been mulling over what I want to do with my exhaust, and what started out as a cheap idea (Berk dual exit delete) has spiraled into mod creep Now I'm really considering the more "proper" way to mod the exhaust, and starting at the FRONT, with headers and tune (OFT/OFH).

In the meantime, I really want to lose the awful looking OEM tips, but don't want to spend an arm+leg doing so. I thought about getting a cat-back, but 1) that's pricey and I'm already forking over a bit for the OFT/OFH, 2) I want to see how loud everything is before choosing a cat-back, and 3) I may end up keeping the stock cat-back in the end, based on #2.

So far, all I've seen in terms of pure tip replacements are the JDM tips, which (personally) look awful. Perrin has some nice slash cut dual wall tips, but they're almost $200

Anyone have any suggestions of decent options? Ideally looking for 3.5-4" dual wall tips, prefer to avoid the fake Ti look. Thanks!

Fairly expensive but

If you're going to spend that much you might as well get an axleback or just save for a catback.

Yeah Perrin turned up for me, but for $200, seems kinda silly. That could be a fog light kit or something...

I had Perrin Slash Cut tips. Those look great, but they do cost $210...unless you can find someone selling used. I sold mine for $170 I think.

I'd looking into the Greddy SP Elite. I was able to get mine for $500 shipped off of a vendor here. Probably the most reasonably priced axleback. You won't get a huge sound, but it will sound OEM+ and looks much better than the Perrin Tips.

EDIT: My neighbor got some pretty cool looking black tips from Auto Zone for $20 or something like that. I'll try to take some pictures if he's home.

I did a quick DIY a while back to make my own tips.

No idea why the original OP deleted his DIY, which is basically what I copied, but you can still see my write-up.

My solution

Not original... read a bunch of posts about these tips... went the extra mile and didn't screw around with clamps and such... had them welded on.

DC has a history of making really bad quality parts for our cars that don't fit well. There's a reason their stuff is so cheap compared to everything else. A couple members have used their tips and it rusted out their stock exhaust. Also, their headers don't fit at all.

Sorry man by the way, I looked for an hour, but couldn't find the thread to the exhaust tips I seen a long time ago. This forum is huge! lol. Perrin tips would be a good option because Perrin makes quality parts. Nearly every part from Perrin for our car is top notch, but $200 is a lot for tips, even for Perrin. I'd just reccomend just saving up for a exhaust system.
