Oil cooler void warranty?

Just wondering if adding an oil cooler will void warranty on the free 2 year oil change?

Also i have the vortech SC kit what oil cooler will fit?

Any aftermarket part will void your warranty.
Since I see you have a brz go talk to your dealership! I think the new legacy comes with one standard and it has an fa20 if I'm not mistaken work with the service department and see if since it's oem they'll allow it. I would think they'd be fine with it.

Yes i knew about the parts, but what about the oil change since i have the free 2 year deal,i dont wanna put an oil cooler if thats going to void it, plus i saw the some install that we need to add more oil after the install, so how would i do that if i dont have access to the Subaru oil

The complimentary 2-year oil change is offered by Subaru as a free service. It is not warranty coverage... but having said that, they would only be obligated to provide oil up to the original capacity of the FA20. If your oil cooler kit is a much larger capacity one, they may choose to decline to provide you extra oil.

I've spoken to my scion dealership about this they said that they'll do the oil changes no matter what parts you have installed, but this depends on your dealership.
Yeah I'm sorry I didn't word it right but for the most part they'll deny any warranty claims that relate to installed parts.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act makes it illegal for companies to void your warranty or deny coverage under the warranty simply because you used an aftermarket or recycled part. Still, if it turns out that the aftermarket or recycled part was itself defective or wasn't installed correctly, and it causes damage to another part that is covered under the warranty, the manufacturer or dealer has the right to deny coverage for that part and charge you for any repairs. The FTC says the manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket or recycled part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage.

I'm just going from what my dealership told me as well as the scion 1800 number. I didn't look into it any further since I believed what they told me.

The service writer is BSing you. They cant legally do anything to void your warranty unless THEY prove the part caused the issue. So your protected not the other way around.

OMG no Subaru oil! Whatever shall you do? There's a lot better oils out there than the OEM stuff. And if you can afford to play with FI, why are you so concerned about your free oil changes? Just buy some Motul 300V and do it yourself.

I never had a problem with my STI with Subaru oil.

Free its Free, after 2 years ill do Motul.

They can use the oil cooler as a contributing factor for an engine related issue, as the oil cooler WILL drop the oil pressures in the engine. If you have a catastrophic engine failure that is due to poor oiling issues, I'm willing to bet they'll first point to the oil cooler.

Or, you know, the supercharger might do that too....

They still have to prove it was the cause a direct injector failing isnt caused by the oil cooler for example. And we know they have a habit of going out on some unlucky people.

Not so. If you install the Subaru oil cooler, in a similar fashion to the Forester, that won't drop oil pressures. The increase in oil pathflow for that cooler is almost nil.

Now, an air/oil cooler, that might be different, but it depends on where it's plumbed from and how.
