Title/Register a BRZ/FR-S from out-of-state?

Hello, everyone.

I'm expecting delivery of a '14 BRZ Limited sometime this week. The car's coming from Clint at Heuberger Motors up in Colorado. I saw the thread the CA guys made for titling/registering out-of-state purchases, but haven't had much luck deciphering the process for NJ. Couldn't find anything on here, and the NJ MVC website/customer service is a total mess (contradictory, unclear, etc). Anyone have any experience with this process? Even better if you bought from Clint in CO. The car is being financed, FYI.

Just trying to figure out what to expect. I'm insured (and exempted from photo inspection), but the rest is a bit of a mystery.

Many thanks in advance.

I didn't finance mine but I took the title in and paid taxes/fees and they gave me plates. I picked up the car and took it in for inspection they slapped a new car sticker on it and that was it.

I did have to have the dealer fill out some form about stating that the car was less than 45k and got better than 19mpg.

Thanks for the info, raptor. I did stumble across the LFIS form online, but found conflicting information on whether it needed to be filled out. Did you bring a physical copy of that form filled out by the dealer to the MVC, or did the dealer fax/send it over to the MVC on their own?

I'd still like to hear from someone who financed their purchase. (And again, even better if you bought from Clint at Heuberger.)
