DIY: LED Fog lights BRZ Limited

I changed the fog lights on my BRZ to LED's to better match the color of the HID's.

To get to the fog lights you need to remove the plastic rivets in the wheel well. There are 3 in the wheel well and one underneath.

Once you have the rivets out, you can reach right in and unclip the bulb. The new bulb that I went with is a 5w 12 LED Cree bulb off of ebay (search "2x H16 5202 5201 9009 CREE +12-SMD 5050 LED 5W White Fog Daytime Running Lights" )

You will have to trim the plastic on the bulb back in 5 places, 4 outside and 1 inside in order to make it fit into the OEM housing. A razor blade will work perfectly.

Once you trim the bulb and pop it back into the housing, just put all of your rivets back into place and enjoy!

The color is a lot better than the yellowish light from before, its not an exact match but at night they look a lot better! The light output is dim with the LED's, but the HID's make up for that! Here is a comparison...

Hahaha! Sorry, we just got over a foot of snow and it hasn't been above freezing yet! The car was clean when I did the install, just not when I took the pic.

Got it, aren't there some LED foglights that don't need any modifications? Just plug and play?

From what I understand there are 2 ways of a h16 bulb setup, the inside tab is on the other side. Trimming those tabs wasn't that bad and doesn't make a difference.

This is the stock bulb base...

The tabs on the inside top and bottom fit, the one on the right is what the led had in a different location. The outside tabs aren't even needed, but the led had them in different locations as well. It still has the clips that lock the bulb on and the 3 inside to make sure its in the proper location.
