Scion FRS Homelink Mirror Question

Hey everyone! So I've been looking at purchasing a BRZ Auto Dimming/Homelink Mirror with Compass for my FRS and was wondering what was everyone's experience with the mirror.

I know before some people had problems with the mirror falling off but from my research Subaru came out with an updated mirror adapter. As of right now these are the parts I've researched that I would need for the install. I hope the adapter I found is the most up to date one where it wouldn't fall. Thanks!

i did mine almost as soon as i got my car back in july of 2012. it wasn't too bad. i stripped something too so i ended up having to modding mine a bit to make everything fit right, but assuming you aren't an idiot like me and try to screw in a screw at an angle then i'm sure you'll be fine. mine hasn't come out at all and to this day i'm still happy i did it.

I ordered that homelink mirror about 2 days after I bought my FRS. I've had no problems whatsoever with it. I remember reading about stripped mounting screws and such. It's all in the installation.

The installers that put them into the cars (at the dealership or at the port or wherever it's done) are trying to do them as fast as possible and often ended up over-tightening the mounting screw. It's going into aluminum. All you have to do is be aware of that and just snug it up.

[edit:] DOH! Disregard. Google is your friend....

Does the Homelink mirror connect to the vehicle wiring harness, or is it self-contained? The one in my Outback appears to be connected to vehicle wiring.

If it is connected to the harness, is there a factory connection in the headliner that makes it plug & play?

Does the mirror use the existing mount on the windshield?

Thanks!

You will find the wire tucked toward the passenger side of the car. Remove dome light cover and viola. Easy to find.
