Talking For those of you with a RB kit...

Sup guys! I had a few questions for those of you with the RB V1 kit! With tax returns coming in soon I'm hoping to buy the kit with that money

Anyways, hopefully some of you guys can answer these questions for me!

1-How much did it all cost you in the end? So like, how much did you pay for your kit, paint, install etc.?

2-Do I need anything in particular with the kit when I buy it? I plan to get a new exhaust when I get the kit, but also some new rims and wheels too, but is anything else NEEDED?

3-How is rear visibility with the wing? If possible, could one of you guys hop in your car and take a pic of your rear view mirror

4-Any place I should take it to in particular? I'm from CT, so I don't think there are too many well known body shops here

That's pretty much all the questions I got for now, so if anyone could answer these for me, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thank you!

1. Take the total price of your kit after shipping, taxes and duties and double it. That may represent the total final price of it installed after painting and labour
2. In order for your car to actually look good you will need coilovers. Along with those you will need rear lower control arms and something to allow for camber adjustments up front. Based on your coils, you will need top hats. Add another 1.5-2.5K (or more) to your price for the parts plus install if you cannot do it yourself
3.The visibility sucks, I remember seeing pictures in a few threads. with the V1 wing you are dealing with a lot of obstructions. the mirrors will be your friend (and a back up cam if you have one)

also note that if you plan on selling/trading in the car with a few years you will have dropped the value of, and ability to sell, your car. Though the RB kit is wicked

Just things to keep in mind

Great breakdown ska.. added to the final warning . Aftermarket parts do not always reduce the value of the vehicle- this is not to be confused with the ability to break even or come out in the positive from these outlays

Thank you for the reply! So I'm looking at around 10k-15k for everything installed in my car then, sound about right? Also, I didn't know I would need coilovers and control arms either

I have never seen a RB installed on a car without coils, plus I have no idea how you would try to fit the huge wheels you would need to look good without aftermarket suspension and control arms

The RB kit is designed for use with meatier tires and for being lowered a bit, to make it look as aggressive as possible. If you're going to keep it stock height, it may look odd. I'd suggest a supercharger instead

No offense but it sounds like you haven't done enough research. There's a few RB build threads on this site that can giv you enough info on the parts you'll need. With the full kit costing 5k, call paint and install $4k to be on the safe side, entry level coilovers like bc racing that's 1k, wheels I'd expect to pay about $500 a wheel if you're trying to be conservative and $1000-1500 for rubber. So yes you're looking around 15k for the build and remember that's with entry level parts and no supporting suspension mods which I wouldn't recommend.

you are right, you don't NEED them. But it will look quite silly with those fenders on there without wide wheels.

There is nothing wrong with buying the kit and saving up to purchase other parts to go along with it.

Something to think about, make sure you want to do this 100%. If you think you will not keep the car for very long don't bother. Once you cut that car up say goodbye to ever getting rid of it without a private party buying it and it will be an even smaller market at that for those who personally like the look.
