Suspension installation in Orange County

Hey guys,

looking to get some springs installed pretty soon, and was wondering if anybody can recommend a shop that does spring installations for cheap. $$$ is tight!

I'd say have a friend help you if money is tight, and go get the spring swapped at a shop for like $10 to $20 then just do your own install, it's not too hard and you save a lot of money.

I don't really have any friends that are really into car modifications. What sorts of tools do you need to do it yourself? How much do shops usually charge for spring installation?

You'd just need a breaker bar, torque wrench, and some socket wrenches, and of course jack stands and floor jack. You'll need anything from 12mm to 19mm sockets preferrably deep wall and approx the same size wrenches. Theres a manual with torque specs on the forum here.

I know Evasive Motorsports charges about $140 for spring install.

Just grab a friend thats willing to help to make it a little easier but I just watched some videos on installs and I tackled it with my friend having never doing any of this before and it's not hard just takes time. You can do it yourself if you had 2 cars since you'll need to take the struts to get the springs swapped or just borrow a spring compressor from autozone but I'd trust a pro with springs since it can be dangerous if done improperly.

I had never installed springs before but I did it (with a friend) on the FRS and without a spring compressor. The scariest part is removing the OEM springs, but you can easily rig up a contraption that will mitigate the spring expanding/exploding into your face. A impact driver to remove the top nuts will make it a lot easier. Once you get the OEM strut/spring assemblies apart, putting things back together is easier with the aftermarket springs (can be easily done with just your body weight). No spring compressor really required.

You can do that as well, there's a DIY on the forum for this method if you want to go this route, would be free but I would just be careful working with a loaded spring

Talk to Randy at @Evasive Motorsports
He's always been good to me. Charges really fair pricing. And does excellent work.

Just go to auto zone or something and grab a spring compressor, you can rent it for free!!! just return it the next 2 days or so.

We're always available as well. Located in La Habra, CA, which is just west of Brea, and north of Fullerton.

Thanks for all the input guys. I don't trust myself to do the install on my own. I've also heard how dangerous those spring compressors can be..don't want to risk injuring myself or others. I'm NOT a car person at all lol
