Anyone else into headlight retrofits?

And not just Mini H1 Retroquick options, I'm looking into retrofitting a FX-R or RX projector in our stock housing to get the most light output.

lol.. they don't do that that much. in fact it's more the other way around. when they post anything in regards to their pnp hid kits, the retrofit guys come over and start giving them shit. don't really care either way. i mean people are gonna do what they wanna do.. just saying.

also that retrofit would look great @retrosmiths

Oh wow, how's the fitment of the S2K?

I currently have the retroquick option with G37 shrouds, but I'm looking to upgrade to better projectors once I sell my demon eyes pair.

The stock projectors actually works quite well with HID bulbs, I tested it but I plugged the squirrel finders. Here's a sample shot with Black Series lens and XB35 bulbs.

I just need to retrofit it with custom shields to make the cutoff sharper and straighter, but light distribution, width and throw are already good.

Blinding? Isn't that one of the reasons why we're retrofitting, to prevent glare to oncoming vehicles? Lol

Anyway, the S2K is a bit pricey for me right now. The FX-R sits well if I shave off the bottom half of the stock projector mounting brace.

Having no garage and having the FRS as a daily is preventing me from retrofitting this properly and cleanly.

Nice! I'll probably stick with modded stock projectors for now just because aligning then won't be a problem, but I'll look into a more serious retrofit in the future.

Why not just pick up a set of BRZ headlights? They use the RX350 bixenons.

I retrofit my maxima headlights with fxr projectors and morimoto HIDs. They came out amazing, but since that was an old car, I didn't mind taking apart the headlights. So, I got the brz, but it can't hold a candle to the max in terms of lighting. Maybe a few years down the line, i'll retrofit these headlights.

I'm not unfamiliar with retrofits. I've been retrofitting headlights since 2004 (I think that's when I joined HIDplanet.com).

What I'm saying is that the BRZ headlights already use a fantastic and highly desirable bixenon projector (RX350 bixenon), so instead of wasting time fabricating brackets and having to deal with the headache of aiming/leveling the lights (rotation is a bitch), buy the BRZ headlights (or the GT86 HID headlights from a LHD European country since those probably also use the RX350 bixenon projectors) and install those. They are made for the car and you won't have to deal with opening, cutting, gluing, etc.
