Ordered the wrong car...
So, I'm about 16 weeks into my BRZ ordering experience when I get a nice surprise with an estimated less than 2 weeks to go... essentially the car the factory has built is an auto trans, unlike what I wanted, we agreed on and my paperwork shows.
I'll be going into the dealership tomorrow to figure out what's up but, I'm seriously peeved and freaking out. Damn near 4 months of waiting to get it all F^&@ed up in the home stretch! ![]() I'm not sure how to handle the situation. Chances of finding a WR Blue Limited in this area is slim to none... I think I may try to get $ off our agreed car price to compensate as I'm sure my deposit is non refundable. I need a drink/ |

Damn, that sucks, sorry for all the hassle your going through, had a hard time trying to get my FRS-whiteout through my local dealerships, I can only imagine how hard it is to get a BRZ. Either way thwy are obligated to get youe BRZ the way you ordered since you have written proof of what you asked for, maybe you can even get a discount for making you wait and compensate for the time it took to even deliver a car that is what you wanted and now the extra time to solve the ordeal. If worst comes worst, you might as well walk away and look somewhere else...

Even non refundable deposits have to be given back in a case like this. If the dealership cannot get you the EXACT car you wanted in the timeframe they originally gave you, they're technically breaching the contract by not meeting the terms and thus HAVE to refund a deposit should you choose to walk away.
Same thing happened to me last week. I ordered my FR-S with a few things and they didn't install the upgraded head unit and the dealership said I either take the car or wait 3 or 4 more months. I told them to give me my non-refundable $1000 back because they couldn't get me the EXACT car I ordered (even though it's not a major difference like your situation) in the 2 weeks they said it would take, and they gave all of my money back. |

1. You put a deposit down for a car with specific features that were detailed in your dealership agreement.
2. calm down, there are plenty of cars to go around, keep things in perspective. 3. They can not keep your deposit for a car they don't deliver, but you also must give them a chance to fulfill the agreement within reason. 4. It isnt the dealerships fault for the mistake, give them a chance to find a solution. 5. do not be demanding, they don't have to do squat, they could just give you the deposit back and show you the door, or worse, try to keep your deposit (even though itd be illegal, but the money to hire a lawyer would be far more than the deposit) 6. Politely talk to the sales manager and ask him how they can resolve the situation. politely ask if that is the best they can do and if there is anything more they can do to make the situation better. (alluding to freebies, but not demanding or asking directly) 7. post back and let us know how it goes. again, remove all anger and frustration before talking to them or itll end badly.

Just got back. They gave me a couple options.
1. Cancel the order, refund. They are not yet allowing orders for 2014 models and have already stopped 2013 cars... 2. Settle for a different color (torch red or silver. both least fav color (Blue>White> Black) I was hopping to consider option 1 but it is estimated that 2014 orders won't start until late september and given the wait time I wouldn't get it until next summer... |

Why not cancel and jump on the CO>CA Cartel delivery train?? I'm sure Heuberger Motors has a matching car in the pipeline... Look for Clints thread for details on ordering if you decide on a refund....

Yeah check around, Colorado has a ton of Subaru dealers. Heuberger is one of the biggest, they are in Colorado Springs. Go to The Subaru website ad search for dealers around Denver. They each have a website where you can check current inventory. You could also call them and see what inventory they're expecting to arrive soon.
Lots of people have bought cars out of state and had them shipped. Someone local may even be kind enough to visit the dealer and scrutinize the car for you. I've worked with Seisho at Go Subaru on Arapahoe, he was great to work with and would recommend him hands down. |

If you are willing to drive about 500 miles:
http://www.walsersubaru.com/wholesal...81b1f8bd84.htm Pretty sure their sale price is around $27K range. The color and trim you wanted. They might be able to ship it to you for about $300-400 depending. |

when I searched for a manual subaru the local dealer only had an auto. it was a turn off. but then it occurred to me I read some reviews that the auto brz was pretty good. So I called them back to give it a test drive. I'd never thought it'd be possible but here I am driving an auto and very happy with it. No, I didn't compromise. I made a conscious decision to buy an auto after the test drive while there were other manuals available within 300 miles. not saying you should do the same thing but stranger things have happened, lol...

If you ordered, shouldn't they have all the specs on computer? When I ordered my FRS, it showed all info needed (6spd, whiteout, when it should arrive, blah blah). I guess since it's a limited it's different. GL on finding the one with the color you want bro!

Yeah I've got a printout of everything I ordered. The dealer messed up when they sent the order over .The person that did it didn't double check everything matched what I wanted.
I ended up canceling my deposit and am waiting for it to be refunded. (They said 3-9 days...) I found a car out-of state that they should be getting in-stock in less than 7days. I have already redone all my business and financing through them. Everything seems BETTER than when I ordered it the first round. $27100 for the final price, and they even got me a better rate that is 2.6% lower than where I was at. :happy0180: I'm relieved and just hopping now that my deposit is refunded so I can apply it to this other car before someone else snags it in the next couple days.

Waittt I'm pretty sure it is refundable. When I put down a deposit, the dealer told me that I can take back my money whenever I change my mind or if I am not satisfy. But yeah go talk to your dealer about that without killing anyone..

2014, hopefully cricket-free. Might be a blessing in disguise.
