I finally got a chance to see how the car is to live with during a long day

I regularly organize group drives for TT drivers. I had one planned for this past Saturday in Massachusetts and Vermont and since my TT is leaking power steering fluid I had to take the BRZ. It was about a 16 hour day with 12 hours spent in the car, it was made up of a 3 hour highway drive to the starting point, around 5.5 hours of driving local roads with 2 30 minute stops, a stop for dinner after the drive, and a 3.5 hour highway drive home.

In my past few cars by the end of a day like this I would be cursing whoever designed the seats (whoever designed the TT seats should be exiled to some really cold desolate place), in the BRZ the discomfort was very minimal and the next day I wasn't still feeling it. This really is a great car.

you're lucky. i'm squishy, and the chair grabs my love handles. great for shorter drives, but after driving from CT to NC, my back was killing me.

I find it very comfortable for up to about 90 minutes. After that, my back hurts. Which is fine, since I really only use the car for work commuting (which never exceeds an hour at a time).

The seats fit me very well; they have excellent support everywhere....except lower back.

Motivation to lose the love handles!?

I think you're going to get a little back pain no matter what vehicle it is after 2+ hours. I thought about getting a small/stiff pillow to put on my lower back when I drive it. I've gotten no back pain yet but the longest I've driven is an hour. I can feel the lack of lower back support though. I wish the seat had lumbar adjustment.

Anything over 2 hours and my back starts hurting. Driving from CO to CA sucked. A lot.

My commute (I only have to do it one day a week) is 125 miles each way, so I regularly spend 2 to 2-1/2 hours in the seat. I find it very comfortable. I'm 6'1 and 165 pounds.

Nope. I work for a company with several manufacturing facilities in the midwest; I drive to one of them once monthly (4.5 hours each way), and the others probably quarterly (4 hours and 6.5 hours each way). I rent cars for the trips, and I've rarely had problems with back pain; I've had everything from stripper Focuses (Focii?) to Camaro SS to Cadillac DTS.

The only model I can recall that causes me problems is the Accord; the seats seem convex and push 'out' in the middle of my back.

I do 14hr drives from OH to MA and back twice a year. The BRZ has been a very comfortable car to make the journey in. Maybe not as comfortable as my previous Legacy, but much better than some other cars from my past.

I love the seats, but only because I have bad lower back problems I'd love it if the seats came with a lumbar adjustment. I loved the inflatable lumbar support on my 330Ci until the seal failed and it leaked out after a few minutes. My 2011 Outback has great lumbar support, which makes me wonder why they didn't bother in the BRZ.

I actually notice the bumps in the road quite a bit and it gets a little tiring after an hour or two, but that may be because the only two other cars I've really driven on long trips are an '04 Accord sedan (squishy suspension) and a '00 528i (BMW ride). The longest I've gone in the BRZ is about 1.5hrs, and I wasn't in too much pain but got a good back cracking when I got out at the end of it.

Put in 10 hours today and feeling fine. I seem to "fit" with these seats.

Damning with faint praise OP 8)
