Fix dent myself or will I make it worse?

Backed up a little too much and made light contact with license plate holder of car behind me, now there is a dent on my rear bumper. As you can see, it's also pushed up the paint slightly, so it's raised. Normally you can't really see it, but if sunlight is on it directly, it's very noticeable.

So my question, is it worth trying to repair myself (e.g. sand down smooth and use touch up paint, then polish/blend?), or will I end up making it look worse by doing so? Just want to know your opinions. I know getting the whole bumper repainted is the only way to make it look like new, but I just want to make it look less visible. My car has been opticoated if that makes a difference. Thanks!

You can try but you will only make it more costly when you have to take your car to a body shop to have the dent and your mistakes repaired.

mask off the surrounding area, lightly sand down the raised bump, polish and seal. can you do that?
