86 / Scion FRS - Auto Blipping Control Unit

More Details in our Facebook Page
NigelJDMPartsFanPage

The Auto Blipping Control Unit is very popular in Japan!
All the 86 owners said it is very hard to do heel & toe in the track for the 86/BRZ.
That's why Pivot Japan released the Auto Blipping Control Unit.

ECUTEK tune comes with auto blip feature so I guess if I dont ever get a tune this would be perfect. The nice thing about this unit is you can turn it off easily.

Is this plug and play? From the website it looks like you need to splice into a bunch of wires? Why can't this just run through the OBDII?

You need a at least 2 things.

1. the auto blip unit (29,000 YEN for this)
2 .the harness

And they have a few harness options.

1. only wire to the gas pedal and you will need to do more work on the wiring and make it work.

2. Wires to the gas and the brake pedal.

3. MT/AT wiring.

How does the Auto Bliping work on the ECU Tune?
I am curious......
Can you control it? And how do you control and set it?
I am shock if you can do that with a ECU Tune...

The tuner seems to have minor control over when it engages (at what speed/rpm the minimum threshold is), but otherwise it cant be controlled. Which is why most tuners only put it into a tune if there is a special request for it.

The only control a driver has is to switch maps with the cruise control stock, which can either turn on or turn off the ECU Autoblip, depending on whether it exists on that map.

And..oooo...i am interested.

It seems to be a localized problem. No issues here in North Carolina

FYI, the 6AT already has a rev matching, i.e. auto blipping, feature built in from the factory.

Its just a sequence of events.

For example:

If RPM is above 5k rpm AND braking AND clutch engages then raise RPM by 'X' RPM

I am in NC and have this unit. I plan on installing it this weekend. I'll post a write-up of install and a review when I've had some time to play with it.

Sorry for the noob question, but what is it with the BRZ/FR-S that makes it hard to heel-toe at the track?

Nothing really. But why do that when technology can do it for you!
