not happening...

They said it to begin with that they were not doing it. Who said it was supposed to be out this year? There has always been speculation but I had not seen an article published by Subaru stating this. I still do not foresee them making one. The STI consisted of a parts catalog with STI Labeled parts.

The WRX STI came stateside two models years after the WRX. Wait two years, then start asking.

Thanks guys! What about the relationship between Subaru and Toyota, will Toyota allow Subaru making a STI version?

So what's the reason for the BRZ with upgraded parts that was seen testing at the Nurburgring a lot last year?

With so many successful modification options for every aspect of the car already, I really don't see a point in getting an STi anymore. You're basically going to be spending $35k+ for the exlcusivity of a badge to be applied by the OEM.

I agree with you in that if it's around $35k it won't be worth it at all. But to tell people to "go aftermarket" is telling people to throw away their factory powertrain warranty. And most people don't do that lightly.

Modifications don't void warranties: uncool dealers void warranties.

Really though, that is a good point to bring up. Once you go crazy with modifications it becomes a bad gamble on the warranty.

I wouldn't worry much with bolt-ons, but a supercharger/turbocharger? I can't imagine any reasonable dealership would honor the powertrain warranty, and I really wouldn't blame them, as it would be bad business practice.

(unless it's one of those cool dealerships that will install it for you!)

I'm guessing they might do a stripped version, give it a bit less weight (losing rear seats along the way), maybe CF roof/hood, stiffer suspension/better brakes and call it BRZ STI. Maaaaybe a small power bump under 20hp.

upgraded internally? I saw no such thing. Extra STI goodies that you can purchase..yes I saw such thing.

Video proved my point. It was nothing but the extra add ones you can buy already.
