How soon before you put it on track?

For those who purchased new, I'm curious how long you waited to get it on track (mileage wise)?

I'm thinking 1,000 miles would be safe, and doing an oil and filter change a day or two before because of all the new car crud in the oil and filter.

I'll be at Sebring in two weeks for an event with Chin Motorsports, but I only have 130 miles on the car right now so I won't be bringing it. Hoping to have it there in June. Can't wait to see how close I can get my lap times to my old Miata race car.

Plans right now are just for fluid, pads (DTC-60's) with titanium shims, and Touge Factory brake cooling kit. I'm going to try and get as much life out of the stock tires, and once they go, I'll probably throw some Michelin PSS on the OEM wheels.

I took it to Lime Rock a week after I bought it...but I also drove around like crazy that week plus the 150 miles there so I had 800 miles on it before it saw the track. I also changed the oil but according to some, that really isn't necessary. More just up to you...

I'll be at Chin this weekend with mine in NASA Time Trials.

I took my car directly from the dealership to the dyno the day that I bought it. 3 days later, I had it on track at Palm Beach International Raceway for a Global Time Attack event.

There is no reason not to drive the car hard from day 1, and there is no "new car crud" to speak of in the oil or filter. With synthetic oils, there should be no crud at all, ever. The car does not come with break-in oil, nor is there an official "break in" procedure.

I'll also be at Chin next weekend, I hope to see you there in your FR-S, however I"ll be driving something else that weekend.

Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't know if I'll even have time to get it on track that weekend, as I'll be working the event! I'll try to get a session or two in though.

I had the oil changed at 1000 miles and then tracked it in December with like 19XX miles on it.
