Scirocco coming to NA?

First Scirocco R spotted in US- one commenter was told the Scirocco is coming here...

Really attractive car, first hot hatch for NA that competes with the 86 in that department. Too bad about the wrong-wheel-drive, add 4Motion AWD and I'd be cross-shopping it:

Looks like a Hyundai! And will never... Ever be in the same category as the "rear-wheel drive" FR-S/BZRs.

Cool. It's probably just hanging around for testing.

When it comes to Volkswagen I admire and wouldn't mind owning a Scirocco R and the new Beetle (yeah the new Beetle).

No Hyundai comes anywhere close to this bit of design near-perfection - and I'm no Hyundai-basher, I drive one.

Wtf?

Why is this news?

I've already seen 2 Scirocco's in New York.

Not a very hard car to import, doesn't have a huge V12 engine.

A bit late to market at this point I'd say.

I always loved the Scirocco and wish it would've come here a while ago. Wouldn't trade my FRS for it now, but I really like it. Just a better looking GTi.

Didn't someone steal one of these during a big VW meet a few years back? I remember a video getting passed around the net. Young guy, drunk at a car show, hops in manufacturer's vehicle and hoons it around a dirt track?

Anybody?

Bueller?

Edit: Maybe it was an Audi meet.

Don't bogart that joint my friend...

There is a bit of Dart in the headlights, but nowhere else... but as the Scirocco design preceded the Dart's introduction by several years, it is better phrased "there is a bit of Scirocco in the Dart".

My pants would have tightened for this model 10 years ago. Basically its a GTI without the box shaped rear. I'd take it over a GTI, but then there's the issue of it being front wheel drive. See, my FR-S has me spoiled. I suppose on the same note others who are used to horsepower are spoiled in a different way when they poo poo the twins.
