Tial Q vs Tial QR

So the turbo kit I purchased originally came with a Tial Q...I switched to a QR and had a bung welded on to recirculate and ran some lines. To my surprise...the damn thing sounds EXACTLY the same. I've grown a little tired of the WOOSH noise on every shift being audible within a half mile.

I've triple checked to ensure there's no leak between the BOV and the intake and my understanding is the QR should be significantly quieter. Anyone have experience with the QR?

I had a QR on my STI and it wouldn't call it half mile loud but plenty of people thought it was a open vent.

If you are running an open filter like K&N, then you will hear it as if VTA. The closer the BOV is to the filter opening, the louder it will be. The airbox is what damps the sound. Stock airboxes are usually the best sound dampeners.

What do factory cars do to quiet the sounds? If not VTA where does that air go?
Doesn't appeal to me and I live in California. It's begging to be pulled over and sent to the state ref.

Indeed! Everyone loves the sounds my car makes...I should try to find someone with a decent video/sound recording camera and make a vid...maybe after I get some new tires on her!
