tuning solution?

I'm not knowledgeable about the FR-S much since I just got it about three weeks ago, but I am wondering if there is anything out there for our cars to tune them since I will be putting intake and exhaust on soon. Thanks in advance!

Yes, there are a couple solutions.

EcuTek is the most popular and Visconti, FA20club, and Bob's Drift Office seem to be popular on here.

I have a Unichip, they have been emerging as another solution. There's a ton of threads on here about all of these.

I guess I will be the first to say "SEARCH".

EcuTek
BRZedit
UniChip

search on those terms in this forum and you should find all you need to know.

I agree that all the information is here but it's pretty hard to search without the proper terms. Searching "tune" is a bit too generic and someone new to the scene wouldn't have known those.

You pretty much just gave him gold.

It might be worth creating an official tune sticky thread?

There are some growing options. All have demonstrated/shown promise. These cars take a tune well.

I agree.

Not that it happened in any extreme here but folks tend to pounce on a new guy asking about this stuff with the
stuff....

Honestly, if you're just beginning your research on this stuff searching is going to be hard without knowing the terms ECUtek, unichip, etc.

So a sticky with some basic information and links would be useful.

^ Fortunately those threads get pushed up often because of the interest but in most of these forums they do a great job with rolling up the important stuff (FI, Wheels, Gallery, etc.)

I e-mailed Element Tuning about this last week, and it is not ready for prime time yet. He mentioned that they would be working on it now to finalize the basemaps that are included with the system.

I thought I saw it ready to go on their site a few weeks ago.

I didn't think it was a preview because there was a price (higher than the normal ones).

Hopefully soon then.

Ecutek is a reflash over the oem and unichip tricks the oem ecu. They both do the same thing but the differences come in price and what they can do. Ecutek is close to 800 and is a closed system meaning you can't do it unless you buy the license. Unichip is open, if you know how to tune you can tune it on your own, plus it's only 450. I'm no pro, this is just info iv seen lurking around here so take it with a grain of salt.
Also if you would go to a dealership you would need to reflash the oem tune on ecutek while unichip you just unplug it and boom that's it.
