2013 FRS fuel pump sound

Two weeks after buying I had the car parked in the garage for about two hours after my wife got home and I could hear what sounded like a gear turning coming from the gas tank. Can only assume it was the fuel pump. Turned the key over to let the pump cycle and the noise was gone. Just weird it happened after the car had been sitting.

I hate to be "that guy", but if you searched you would have found numerous threads explaining this. It's also in your manual, take a look and it will explain everything to you.

See pg. 14 in the Subaru Owner's Manual:

"Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check, and it does not indicate a malfunction."

It's just modern technology as the car goes about its business ... hours after you've parked it.

Spooky, isn't it?

Yes it is, I did a search and I guess I didn't type the correct thing so nothing similar.

The time you took, should have just said nothing and moved on.

Mine does the same thing some times after sitting in the garage for a few hours and it is normal. Makes a buzzing mechanical sound from the back.

I've been able to translate what the car is saying when this happens with a special program from Japan........."Drive me again/Drive me again" ........
