What tape do you use to protect your front end on track days?
I've got a track day coming up and I'd like to protect my front end. What tape do you guys suggest?

i use this:
http://www.trakktape.com/ Easy to put on and take off. clear so your car doesn't have all that blue painter's tape all over and looks better. My car is white so orange cone stains don't come out easily so this stuff is great.

Not at all. Im usually on trial for cone murder at the end of an autox event. Cones, in my experience, leave black/grey marks. Never had orange residue. I usually have to use a clay bar and lots of elbow grease.

Do you do one layer of it or do you layer it on? How easy is it to remove?

Blue painters tape usually works for me. Takes some time to do, but it'll save you from rock chips

As for removing it, it takes a little longer. If you peel up a corner, you can usually get it 90% off in a single sheet. It peels up like saran wrap...kind of a plastic/rubber feel to it. The remaining 10% are typically small areas. I've found that spraying a little ONR/water mist over the entire area helps remove the protectant. I'd say it takes me 20min to remove it all. |
