Pricing - this could be the clincher - or not...
Is it just me or does the £28K pricing Autocar are quoting seem just a little bit steep?
After all the car was first mentioned as a simplistic, modest priced, pure sports car for a younger audience. Now we are potentially looking at a price that compares to some cars already well placed in the market with better pedigree. No matter how good the dynamics are with the GT86 we are still talking about a Japanese car with a four pot motor. Comparisons with second-hand M3's, Cayman's and other such 6-8 cylinder German exotica may not be favorable. At least that is what I am thinking. Other thoughts? |

Kids: Look at the shit cars on Scions site compared to this car. Scion's current lineup doesn't affect the pricing of this car one bit.
I have no idea what the MSRP will be, and most of us agree that price may be the deciding factor.. but trying to guess this cars price in relation to an xA or xB, etc doesn't make sense. Judge the cars MSRP on the car itself, nothing else.

I dont see them basing it off the other Scions in the lineup's pricing, But I also cant imagine a 8K jump from the next model down, It wouldnt fit in, the majority of people would be afraid to buy a Scion so expensive. I feel it wont be too much more expensive than the TC. My guess is a 23.5K us starting price. |

This is something I've been worrying about as well. If its over 25k out the door then too much to justify buying one since it will be a 2nd vehicle.

Agreed. Toyota has gave what the people wanted. I really don't think at this point they will mess it up because of the price. It would be very unfortunate if that would happen. At this point I would trust them.

I'm guessing a $24k-$25k base price from Scion, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's around $27k based on the information coming from Leeky. If it gets up that high it better be closer to the high spec than low spec model (assuming Scion sticks with only have one trim level) for me to go for it.

It won't be 28k base. I just don't see it being the 20-22k either. I'd be happy to be wrong though

I think 27K OTD should be very well equipped. If this car is over 24K base, it is not "that" affordable.

The trim levels have not been decided yet. That was a leaked training manual. The specs have changed a bit because 17 inch rims are on the supposedly on the low spec, 18 inches on the high spec. 99 percent of the cars we have seen are high-spec cars. If Toyota is only building 1000 per year...they will all be one spec and high...with a few tuner stripped cars made also. We will find out what the truth is tomorrow. |
