FA20Club/EcuTek BRZ, GT86 and FR-S Updates.
Just got off the phone with FA20Club. Toni is stoked about the final release of the official RaceRom from EcuTek. I will try to summarize my long conversation. Toni, jump in if I mis-speak:
What this means for is that you guys are no longer testing and you can be updated to the most recent stable version of software. Some of the issues that presented themselves previously are now eliminated making for a much more enjoyable tune for us customers. As far as the available features, most of you are already familiar with them. The one major thing most can benefit from is that EcuTek now currently has the most recent Rom files associated with the VVT, Idle & High Pressure Fuel Pump fixes. What this means if you can now get the updated fixes that Toyota & Subaru provide without taking your car into the dealer. They will also be integrating those of you who have both a Gasoline & E85 tune into a single Map to eliminate the need for a laptop to switch fuel. This is the first step towards full integration of the GM/Ford Flex Fuel sensors. Toni will begin porting over all previous tunes into the newest Roms this week and sending them out. For all those who are ready to add stable RaceRom features to their tune please shoot Toni over an email and he will get your tune updated for you. He will work on the Manual transmission cars first then the Autos. EcuTek has also made Toni a Master Tuner. I am attaching the press release that he sent me: http://www.ecutek.com/news/newslette...ewsletter.html

Sounds good, Toni is awesome i have a couple more parts to install before i get a new file and will need to send some logs in.
E85/Flex Fuel sounds good but i'm going to wait until it warms back up before i try it out. |

Because of your post I just contacted FA20club and ordered my E85 tune. I was just waiting until we could switch on the go without laptop. Thanks for the update bro.

Awesome! This is what I have been waiting for before pulling the trigger. The idea of having to keep a PC with me to switch between 93/E85 has kept me away from tuning. Now that they are using the latest base file, this is close to irresistible. Eagerly awaiting real world feedback from those using both today!!

I want end-user tune-ability. I'd have no problem buying a "base" map from a master tuner, if it could in-turn modify it later. Especially when I go to forced induction, that is a must.

It's going to be a while before this functionality is available. There aren't any standalone tunable ECU's yet.

I have Toni's E85 and Stage 2. Been very happy though we didn't get much E85 tuning at my high altitude before it got too cold in the mornings for me to want to deal with it. I never had a cold morning start problem but I also stopped using the E85 once it got below 45F in the AM. I'll be very happy to be able to switch between these tunes on the fly. Toni has also been working on the rev limiter to make it a bit less harsh for autocrossers than it is stock. While not quite therre due to limits on the system, its far better than it was stock (brick wall after a couple hits).

I think people take the "stage" term too seriously, the best thing is to just send him your logs and he will send a file that works great. I have the stage 2 but don't have an intake, its just a file he made for me. I will have some new parts soon and can't wait for my next file.

I think Toni defines Stage 1 as a completely stock car. Stage 2 is a minimum of an intake + supporting mods (optional). So yes I have a Stage 2 per his definition, not another vendors.

I feel bad that this is a point worth arguing for some of you.

No offense to you because I respect your opinion. Last week I made my decision on tuning just as you recently did (and we all do). It was a difficult choice because these guys do seem very responsive with their customer service. |

Their car has a turbo on it right now it's not stock, i have FA20 and Visconti tunes and prefer the FA20 by a large margin.
