I can't think of much demand for it since the rear seats are of so limited use anyway.

If it requires a car seat. Shell hate it back there. The top of my little brothers car seat was touching the glass.

It'd probably be cheaper and easier to just pay an auto upholsterer to cut the seat in half and then put some fabric over the cut.

how does your nine year old feel about sitting in the back? I have a 8 year old brother and I'm not sure if it'll be comfortable for him or not.

She is very comfortable when she seat behind my wife.
my wife is 5'2" Thai small body so when she adjust her seat front just to be feeling well she leave lot of leg room behind for my daughter.

Roof rack is not an option in my country. 90% of chance that when i come back to my car from my day of ski they will be gone with the two spare pair of ski's that I left in/on those. This is like saying to those fief enjoy self service free pair's of ski and roof rack.
Plus it's so ugly roof rack. Last time I had roof rack on a car must have been is the 90's.

Roof rack are very unpopular here. most of car have 50/50 folding seat or ski trap.

Cutting the seat is a bad idea. IIRC it's only hinged in on each side, so if you cut it it would leave the part your daughter sits in only supported on one side, no bueno in an accident.

How about not leaving an extra pair of skis on the roof? You can always throw them inside once your daughter is out...
