Touch Up Paint...

Has anyone tried getting touch up paint at the dealership? Price? Whiteout? lol I have a few marks under the front end

I tried it, I have a small "chip", very hard to fill, more noticeable with the touch-up paint. I've learned to live with it.

I bought it on the same month I got the BRZ.
When using the touchup, you just got to be very patient with your brush otherwise you end up putting too much and it just makes it look blotchy which is just as ugly.

Every owner needs a set of these as our paint is so damn soft and fragile.

Tried to get some at a Toyota/Scion dealer today, they couldn't find the paint code for whiteout, let alone the part number. Don't think Toyota is listing it yet. I'll try at the Subaru dealer tomorrow.

Give them your VIN. That's what I did. I have it on order.
Here's a site I always refer to for Toyota color codes. You can even order from them too. In paint pen, brush style or spray.

That's what i did. Gave the parts guy my vin he punched it in and couldn't find anything.

go to a crafts store and buy a very small artists paintbrush. use tiny tabs of paint in the area to fill until its covered

Yep. You have to build. I usually get a tiny bit at the end if a toothpick and transfer it to the chipped area so the paint touches the edges of the factory paint, but does not go over the edge.
Then I let it dry and shrink. Repeat as necessary to try and match the level of factory paint. I usually go a tiny bit over.
If you know what you're doing, you can sand/polish it down to level it out as its softer that the factory paint. But that takes more time and skill.
I wouldn't jump into that unless you've got some practice and know the limitations of the materials you're working with.
I certainly wouldn't suggest the first time in the middle of the hood or anything like that.

A body shop man taught me something about touch up many years ago. Don't spray or use the brush that usually comes with the small bottles. Use a tooth pick. Put the touch up paint in the hole only. Do not get any on the good paint around the edge of the chip. Butt up to it but don't put any on top of it. After it dries well put in another coat. After that one dries do it again if necessary to fill the chip. Once you're satisfied it's filled and very dry, go about refinishing the spot. I've done that and seen chips completely disappear.

That is exactly what I did and it works.
Our touch-up paint is pretty forgiving when it comes to errors too.
If you messed up and over painted; simply just wait a few minutes (in cold weather) it thickens into a rubbery layer and it just rubs off like eraser bits.

Edit: Then again, my car is Opti-coated... So not sure if works without it.
