Sprint Kit fade?

I have had chats to 2 workshops here (in Australia) that build and race cars. They both have BRZ/86 to do performance testing/work/racing. They both (one workshop in particular) are very much against the idea of an aftermarket brake kit that uses "only" 299mm rotors. I think the weight saving of the Sprint Kit is advantageous but it is of no use if fade is experienced.

My question is directed to those people who have fitted the Sprint Kit and have tracked their car. With appropriate pads and brake fluid is the kit fade free?

Thanks.

Assuming a stock car? Yes.

If you have a gutted 800hp monster, no.

Did they forget that its 299x32? most BBK are xxx x28... If rotor size is that big a concern, get the Enduro kit.

The C300 pads that come with the kit are good enough for the majority of trackers that have a NA car with sticky street tires. With more power and/or grip, you may need to get more aggressive pads with a higher MOT, but there's plenty of headroom beyond the C300.

Thanks for your reply.
My car will be kept na. While the Enduro kit looks great I want the lightest brakes that will do the job. There is no point adding extra weight (and money) if the lighter kit is up to the task.

^^ What Mike said. I'll gather temp data via caliper strips and rotor paint in late Feb but they have been fade free for me with fair abuse against them.

With anywhere near stock power you won't fade them, and with fluid and higher MOT pads I'd run them with quite a bit more power than stock too.

What were their reasons and evidence of why it wouldn't work? Do they believe this thing needs 355x32 rotors? Or do they just believe that a BBK should focus on massive rotors and are somehow "pointless" without massive rotors?

Thanks for your reply.
There is no evidence but I can sort of cope with that; I would not expect them to test something they consider inadequate. But without testing I feel it is quite unscientific to make such claims; here is a hypothesis now where is the data? Maybe they are just making guestimates

Could be, I was just curious at their reasoning. I've also had people tell me I should have gone with 14" rotors, so I'll ask why? and they'll often not have any answer beyond "just because.. it's a bbk.. it should be big".

There certainly can be reasons to run massive 355x32mm rotors, but there aren't that many performance reasons to do so with this car IMO. Hell we are having a hard time easily bedding in some pads on these brakes, imagine how hard it'd be with massive rotors

Then again if I hadn't destroyed my OEM brakes and completely lost confidence in them (I hated to drive the car on the STREET even!) I would still be running the stockers. But they failed and Jeff convinced me I don't regret the brakes at all and love them. I haven't modified this car much yet but I doubt I'll ever change them out, if I do, it'll be for the endurance kit when the car get a bar/cage and becomes a dedicated track car.
