Anyone going to Tokyo Auto Salon 2012?

I've taken 2 weeks off work for Jan, and am planning a TAS 2012 trip!
Anyone else planning on going?

Not too sure on trip details, but I was thinking a week in Tokyo and a week in Kyoto. I've never been, so it should be fun!!!

When you get to Japan in Jan hurry over to the local time machine shop so they can shoot you back to Dec 2011. That won't cost too much. That way you can visit TAS.

Btw this discussion already went on and a few other members might be there: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1547

TAS, Tokyo Auto Salon actually is in January 14/15/16, but that's not to be confused with the Tokyo Motor Show in December. TAS is more like a Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift car show, and I have no interest in it. lol

Lol! TAS in Jan as already stated. Trust me!!!

Cheers for that thread!

TAS > TMS!

I was going to go to Toyota down at the bay, they got cars you can drive there. Maybe they'll have a few FT's on the floor!

You guys get good car shows in USA, we get shit!
TAS is king of the shows, and it's the place where all the jap aftermarket products are released. Who knows, there might be a few FT's there!

TAS is a joke, lol. It's basically Hot Import Nights with SOME performance vendors. Good for eyecandy, but I'd defnitely never go to one with any intention of looking at cars.

so why is it a joke?

All the parts and cars you guys drool over are released at TAS, just like the Gsports FT86, and any new wheels to hit the market. If your into JDM, TAS is it.

I guess it's just what your into....

I guess I'm not one of the "you guys" that you're talking about. You're confusing JDM with TAS. I love Japanese cars, but I have 0 interest in those stickered up cars from Fast and the Furious.

The only thing of interest to me at TAS is the import models. I have no interest in the Gsport FT86, or wheels, or random company turbokits. My front bumper is Mazda factory JDM from the 99 RX's. 99% of the time I roll around in very plain, but very lightweight, black wheels. I have a sticker on the windshield to pay my respects to my rotary mechanica/god. Outside of that I have no "show" aspects of my car. NAS doesn't appeal to me at all.
