Perrin STG1 tune
I was lucky enough to snag one of Perrin's beta tune kits testing out high utah altitude and after navigating the software, managed to tune my car. I have their headerback system currently which completely rocks so I figured the tune would be just as good.
When the car was first flashed it felt laggy and less responsive. I guess this is normal as the ECU needs to learn the new get up, but naturally still concerned me. Then, after a day or two, like a flip of a switch the car changed completely! IMO after getting a filter, pulley, and exhaust, this is the best N/A mod to get especially considering that its not even fully complete yet. The torque dip almost feels non-existant and the power increase is great along with the overall feel of the car. Its so much more fun to drive now. Gmookher mentioned it makes the exhaust sound different, which is true. Oh and another side effect to the tune that I didnt expect (after about a 50 mile drive): And just because it was the picture right to the 1st pic: poor 350z

Its all tentative right now as this is a beta map, but Perrin mentioned that 93 octane was ~13whp and 91 was ~11whp so far.
Idk what the torque gains are but they kick ass down low. |

I'm a little confused by the tuning options available for this platform at the moment...do all of them require the same basic unit (EcuTek) that you download their maps to? Or is this a completely different thing? When I had my FD (a long time ago), there were a number of different options...you could get a standalone (like the AEM Power Commander), send in your ECU to get flashed (they'd overnight it back to you), etc. From what I've read, there only seems to be the one option at the moment (the EcuTek system), so I'm confused about all these other things that go along with it...are these other vendors tuning each car using the EcuTek on a case-by-case basis? Or are they selling their maps to upload via that system? Or flashing the stock ECU with their maps? Sorry for the new-guy question, but I've read a lot of threads and I just keep getting stuck on that point. I've read a lot about different flashes and tunes, but all of them seem mention the EcuTek at some point. I also can't find a place to order the EcuTek system...all I can ever find is their main site, which looks like it caters to tuners/dealers/shops (which is my main source of confusion).

Cobb should be coming out with one soon. But yes, right now it's only ecutek system. I'm curious to see what kind if gains Cobb can do.
