Angry Vandalism !? (rant)

Anyone else been an unfortunate victim of their beloved FRS being vandalized !?

Happen to go catch a movie at 10pm last night, I usually park away from any other vehicles in fear that someone will dent the door when they open up theirs (as much of us are), but not so far out that it becomes ridiculous. Come back out to my car after the movie and another couple, whose BMW M3 was parked a spot behind mine, was also broken into. Driver side window gone Nothing thankfully stolen, not that there's much inside to steal at this point. However I do wish we had a lock for our glove compartment as they did open that up and threw all of my loan/insurance paperwork around.

I've had her all of 2 weeks and she's been mostly in the shop due to the feared CEL/idle problem (which is thankfully fixed, so far ..) and now this. I seriously hope this has not happened to anyone else !! and never does !

(okay, end of rant now.)

exactly! the Scion binder they give you at time of purchase takes up the whole glove compartment anyway, lol.

And just the heads up, god forbid anyone else has this problem, the windows are taking quite some time to come in as the vehicle obviously being brand new, they only have 7 windows (driver-side) country-wide being distributed right now. and now the waiting (yet again ...) begins !

This is one downside of parking far away from other cars -- you attract attention to your car if it's sitting out there all alone.

I too have been a victim of a**hole vandals... though I admit my damage is not as bad.

I went to my friend's house the night after I got my fr-s and parked it outside of his street along the curb (I was there for no more than 45 minutes). This is a residential area and in a pretty safe city. Along this curb there are six cars parked, once of which is a fairly new 2-door M3. Guess what? My car was the only one that got egged, bad. These degenerates basically unloaded a dozen eggs onto my car at point-blank range leaving circular scratch marks where the eggs impacted the car.

I waxed the car to see if it would help, but who knew that eggshells could scrape off the clear-coat layer? ...

I was so livid. I'm not one to ever promote violence, but had I caught them in the act, fists were going in faces.

Unfortunately the only failsafe way I have found to avoid vandalism is to drive my wife's civic.

Coming out of the movie and finding your car like that must have made you pretty angry, I would have been. Hope you car is fixed quickly so you can ge back to enjoying the drive.

An another note, I have no tolerance for people who damage someone elses car. I'd crack them right in their noggin. Effing a-holes.

True. Which is why I have been pretty careful with it. I was only parked a row behind all the other cars, just made sure to space myself where no one else was parked in the spots directly to the left and right to avoid dents in doors, ect. Oh well, guess I will now be parking as close to buildings as possible, lol. Thank god for free glass coverage in Mass is all I can say !

Still just as bad man, sorry to hear !!! It's awful what people will do to vehicles. My last vehicle (07 Mazda6) which was pretty heavily modded, never got touched. I knew this car was going to attract some BS like this just due to the fact it looks super expensive, but in the first few weeks of taking ownership, ugh. I already had my supervisor (I work for my insurance company) lower my Comprehensive deductible to the minimum, just in case ..

I was so livid when I came outside. I also have ZERO tolerance for that crap, its unbelievable. Had they been outside when I came out ... ha.
And thank you ! they are saying at least a week if not longer, before the new window comes in but I am just thankful it wasn't worse then what it was at least and that there was no body damage.

And that's one of the reasons I open carry a gun. Typically people will stake out parking lots (at least here in Atlanta) to see which car would be best to rob. They see you get out of the car with a gun on your side and they don't touch it of even think about touching it.

Sorry to hear about your car hopefully your new window will come in quickly!

I had something happen to mine too. I have a small dent on the edge of the roof right above the driver window. It totally looks like someone slammed it with their fist. I've been driving hubbys 4x4 a lot more often since I got this car.

Lock valuables in trunk and disable it. (ofcourse do this before you get to where u r going so that people do not see you doing it) Never lock a glove box, that thing is expensive and you would have to pay for it to get fixed due to deductable. Reminder, do not leave your wheel lock lug key in glove box either. Find a better spot, like trunk by spare tire.

Screwdriver + trunk lock + 2 seconds = open trunk

The only secure storage in a car is a bolted safe or crafty concealment.
