Crutchfield and r&d

Just got off the phone with one of the guys from their r&d departments. Basically they told me they are waiting for one of the dealerships in the area to have one for a while that they can borrow. He told me that it could be up to 6-8 weeks before they have fitment and other info. He also told me its not a high priority because only 2 people have called in asking. I let him know it's a popular car and it might be a while till he can get his hands on it.

If you guys are like me and want more info/r&d please shoot crutchfield an email or give them a call and tell them we want info!

Well I contacted them through a chat session a couple of weeks ago regarding the FR-S so I highly doubt they only received 2 people inquiring about the FR-S/brz.

That is a lie...I have personally called 3x just to see if they had determined/entered the info yet. I never gave my name or customer # so there is no way that they counted all 3 of my calls as 1 person.

They can't get their hands on one at a local dealership and they don't feel like reaching out to the community to get someone local to loan them their car for a day. I'm sure if they asked, they'd get several volunteers, especially if it helps getting our platform more aftermarket options. Even more so if it means that maybe they throw in some swag for the time invested.

More than 2 people have called them unless you and I were the only ones who called, and clearly based on posts on this forum, we know that not to be the case.

yup, I've emailed them as well.

Metra and Scorche are both dragging heals on this and it's driving me fucking crazy. For stock stereos in a 26000 dollar car, it's not bad. It still sucks compared to the stuff I have waiting to go in. I want my tunes back!

There are at least 3-4 BRZ owners in Richmond, about 45 minutes away from there. I'm sure one of us would volunteer.

Most of the cars stereo is standard stuff, and connectors. Most any competent shop should be able to drop a system in there no issues

I volunteered already and it's a 3 hour drive. I wanted to do this since they had no info after several months and I really want to upgrade the amp but keep the stock headunit.

After thinking about this someone is going to get a brand new car from a dealership that crutchfield tore down and they will have no idea about it.

What did Crutchfield say about you volunteering? They flat out declined the offer?

If you just want to upgrade to an aftermarket amp with the stock HU there isn't much info you would need from crutchfield. Just buy an amp and hook it up

They told me with new cars they try to borrow one from a local dealership and give them a 100$ gift card. He said they are waiting on a local dealership to get a large shipment in. I let him know when he can't get his hands on one to give me a call back.
