How do maintenance reminders work? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

My car has 2700 miles on it. I changed the oil at 170 miles and at 658 miles. I want my next change to be at 4000 miles. So I go to the maintenance screen and set the oil change reminder to 1300 miles. it shows as 1300 last, whatever that means. Yet every time I start the car I get a reminder to change the oil now. It's as if there are two reminders, one set by me and one by the factory, any explanations?
I can't any explanation in the manual.

On that screen isn't there also one for time and the option to select one or both criteria (mileage and time)?

I seem to remember having the same issue when I first bought my car. I updated one after an oil change and not the other, which led to the extra message pop-up.

I haven't been in those screens since the last oil change this winter so I'm going off memory...
