Looking to buy BRZ tomorrow. What should I expect price-wise?
I want to buy one, but I refuse to fall into the current gouging situation that some dealers are doing. I'm not sure if they will try to gouge, but I usually buy my cars under invoice (not MSRP). And all the "special cars" anywhere from 3% to 8% off of MSRP (which is still under invoice usually).
Since I am in a market that makes my other car that I will sell more valuable, I can be reasonable, and go higher than I typically would. I figured that either way, it will be my old car, plus approx $11K. If I wait for prices to come down, so will my car that I will sell, so it will still cost me an additional $11K, that's something that I'm aware of and accept. So, what is the bottom line? How much (compared to MSRP) am I probably looking at? How did you guys that bought recently make out? I've been hearing anywhere from $1,500 off MSRP all the way up to MSRP, for a fair deal. I have not confirmed any of it, so I would like to hear what you guys paid if you are ok with telling me. I'm just looking to not get ripped off, that's all (but I refuse to go over MSRP, otherwise I will wait). Oh yeah, and if it matters, I bought 2 BMW's from it's sister dealership last year, and my brother will also buy one the same day, so they can sell 2 in one shot. Thanks! |

Well, a lot of people are paying MSRP, or dealing with mark ups. I have mine ordered and they agreed to cut their mark up in half, so I'm going to pay 1k over but I will try negotiate it down further once it arrives since mine is looking like it will show up in May or so.

I had to drive 9 hours to find mine out of state, all of the ones in Texas were spoken for, even the ones in transit. The one I found was from someone who had put a deposit for both the BRZ and 86, and decided to wait for the 86.
The dealership in Austin, TX was adding $2k to MSRP, so I was happy to pay MSRP minus $500 military discount. |

You should expect MSRP - 500 (ambassador coupon) as the best you can do right now.

I paid MSRP on the car + tax, tag, and title here in NC in December. Put my deposit on the car in November and dealer ate the doc and setup fees.

You should expect to see markup and/or dealer add-ons.

I live on LI - All dealerships in the area are charging ADM - significantly over MSRP in some cases for anything in inventory. Some were willing to do factory orders for MSRP - you'll want to get that in writing if they agree.
I drove 5hrs upstate to buy one from inventory @ MSRP. |

the sale price before tacking on the normal doc fees, and "window etching" was $30,231 which is what I managed to haggle them down to. They started the price at invoice as soon as I asked about the cost, and then I basically sat down with the salesman and calculated the difference in price between MSRP, and what they they would have in it for invoice, added the holdback and asked them to split it down the middle and they agreed. |

You can get one for MSRP if you are willing to purchase outside of your local area. Hopefully that is not necessary.
