Long term E85 use

If this topic has been covered I apologize. I am wondering what the long term effects are of e85 use. I'm curious if the high alcohol content would be bad on let say di seals or other fuel components. Every journal I have read seems to be along the line of the fluid sitting up in the car. As in most likely track used but not a dd. I just bought an oft and would like to throw everything I can at the car to have it run better, but am unsure on e85. I know it burns cleaner so that's a plus. Any input is appreciated. This is my first post

I've run E85 a lot for over a year and haven't had any problems. That seems to be the general consensus on the board too. Some people recommend doing oil changes more frequently though.

The simplest option is just to run 93 octane if it's available. Personally I wouldn't run e85 on Openflash unless there are lots of e85 stations around. Also, swapping to 93 in the winter or on long trips could be a hassle without a proper flex fuel setup.

I have E85 readily available here in Arkansas. But also have 93 readily avail. Are there Dino sheets between 93 and e85? I run 93 now I'm just not tuned for it. I'm just worried about the long term use, most have talked about every once in a while going to 93 to flush the system.

Also I found this thread a while ago mentioning that you should switch to gas every once in a while to clean out deposits on the injectors.

I don't have experience with e85, so take it how you will.

With e85 the power is consistent. On 93 tune there was always a difference depending on air temp/quality. Drove me crazy.

I'm very happy with the stage 2 93 octane OTS tune. Get an UEL header from a reputable company flash to stage 2 and you'll be very pleased with the linear power delivery. Even stage one 93 oct was waaaaay better in the torque dip and a bit up top.

That is a good point. Are you far above sea level?

I think there are a few floating around. Try the Openflash tuning thread. The difference should be around 10whp(give or take) but 10hp isn't the big difference, what you really feel is the now linear power delivery, no dig.

I'm right at sea level. Next step for me will be a header and then im done. 200 whp in these cars is plenty imo.

Perfect! Sounds like you have some good options to choose from. E85 or not, header and a tune is the best.

Filling in the torque curve really changes the car. Night and day difference imo.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I'm sure it burns very well in the engine but my concern is still. It is a low temp burning fuel, it is derived from corn "alcohol" if it was left to evaporate I'm sure what would be left behind would be a gummies substance. So am curious if in the long run it would gum up injectors. Just a thought. I so deeply want to run it, but also want to keep the relatively maintenance free aspect of a vehicle with 5k miles. I know I know "then don't mod" but with most mods you don't have to baby sit to make sure all is still functional. I feel so wishy washy, as I have an oft, headers, and exhaust coming in the next few days. Thanks again guys
