A New Start - CBS 2015 BRZ Daily Driver Weekend Warrior Project

Hello everyone, my name is Kevin and I just got my new BRZ last night. So far, it's a blast!

I had a 2011 STI, engine bent a rod (covered under warranty but I got rid of it).

Despite the ride height there, I did take it to the track.

Then, I decided I wanted to try the two car thing. Had always wanted to bag an E30, so I did.

And I got an 04 WRX Wagon as a daily. I work at a video production studio and it was nice to have some space to haul equipment. Since the studio got another vehicle, I no longer needed the space.

However, now its engine blew the head gasket, and I haven't had it that long. After thinking about it a lot and deciding I want to get back into a reliable car that I can take on track. I wanted to stay in a Subaru despite the engine problems I've experienced with the others I've had (guess I love them enough to look past that haha). So here we are.

Haven't had it 24 hours yet and I've already got a mod list put together in my head. I'll be updating this thread as I go in my build. Probably will progress slowly, but steadily.

Lastly, if you haven't watched Arrested Development then my username won't make much sense. I highly recommend the show and since this car is kind of "a new start" for me it seemed appropriate.

Finally got some stuff done! I stockpiled parts for a little while as my friend PJ did the same for his 2016 STI. We planned a weekend for him to come into town from TN and us install our parts on both cars. Installing wasn't hard. Setting up suspension on both cars took a little time though haha. Sadly, someone backed into my BRZ and messed up the passenger side front fender a little while ago. That will be getting fixed soon.

Anyway, I bought a Grimmspeed intake from a user on here and installed it beforehand (in the parking lot of my apartment because why not). It was good to get all this bullshit out.

Here's what I ended up installing:
HKS Hipermax SP Coilovers
ISC Rear Lower Control Arms
Borla Front Pipe (incl. overpipe section)
HKS Hi Power Single Exit
FT86 Speed Factory Exhaust Hole Cutout fill-in
17x9 +45 Enkei RPF1s in Bronze (which I had on my WRX, pretty awesome to be able to reuse wheels haha)
Project Kics R40 lugs

Thanks to Kamispeed and FT86 Speedfactory for the parts!

The HKS muffler is pretty small, size 10.5 foot for scale lol.

Then came the install day, er, night. We ended up working straight through that Friday night to Saturday haha. The endlink on the passenger side of the STI was a bit of a pain for some reason making our install even longer. Thankfully my dad is a car guy too and has a lift in his garage.

Didn't take many photos, got focused on installing parts.

But once it was done, I broke out my real camera and shot a few photos. Another friend of mine met up with me to drive the car, and now he's thinking about an 86. Here's the finished product, for now at least:

I also have an HKS Air Intake Duct I need to install, and I'll probably get around to that next week. I desperately need new tail lights. Next I'll be doing TOM'S all red tails, a front lip, a short shift kit, and some interior bits and pieces. I'd also like some 17x9.5s but the options out there are limited unless I want to spend $2500+ on wheels, which I may end up doing so we'll see haha. Hopefully in the next few months I'll be doing a track day at VIR, so I'll have to post photos from that too. It'll be awesome to get back on track literally.

Perfect wheel color. It really works well on the car.

Not much has changed, still trying to sell my other car. But here are some photos I shot this past Sunday with a friend of mine who has an STI.

Damn, I didn't realize I hadn't posted in this thread in over a year. Here's where it sits now, just for shits and gigs. Got some 17x9 +35 RPF1s in white to replace the old bronze +45s. Did a SSK install, got some black trim pieces, cleaned my filter, and installed some TOM'S LED tails. Next up is a tune and UEL header.

Now it’s been almost 10 years I’ve owned this car. It’s a shame nobody really uses these forums anymore, myself included.

The car has changed a lot. It’s got a turbo now, it’s been through two rounds of different aero and probably 7 sets of wheels. It’s currently in my garage on the quickjack getting taken apart again. I’m swapping the car to 5x114.3 and doing some new suspension to set it up for drifting.

I’ll update the original posts with a timeline and photos at some point. If nothing else, it’ll serve as a digital scrapbook for my own amusement.

It's sad really. I didn't get my '13 until 2020 during the pandemic. I race it and it has been through a lot of changes but no one seems to care much about this site and Facebook sucks for sharing anything significant.

I did all of my aero, suspension and safety mods first. The turbo was done this past winter. I'm really excited to see it get going for racing this year.

For sure man! I’ve tried fb groups but yeah, not the same.

Sounds like a fun car, hope you have a good race season!
