Goodyear efficientgrip performance gt86
used google translator
I am looking for one tires that are progressive and have a good grip in the wet since the primacy are very slippery on rainy days or with wet soil. According to my limited experience in tires, in this case only in large non-sports cars, goodyear efficientgrip performance was a good decision in several ways, better comfort, lower consumption and better grip especially in the wet. My theory is perhaps uncertain that these goodyears may be balanced and are the closest thing to the primacy hp in dry and the closest in wet to a tire better than the primacy. I want my toyobaru to remain as playful or a little less but that it is without forcing too much as you would have to do with a 100% sporty one, such as a ps4 which you need more speed to dislocate the rear. What is your opinion? Did anyone try goodyear efficientgrip performance in toyobaru? Thank you |

I would forget "lower consumption". I think any fuel mileage benefit would be so small as to be unnoticeable. FWIW I'm getting the best mileage I've ever gotten at the moment and I'm on 245/40-17 Bridgestone RE71R tires. I've never found wide/grippy tires to hurt fuel economy by any detectable amount, while monitoring consumption at every fill-up.
Goodyear "efficientgrip" is a very low performance tire. If you want good wet grip, and won't run in cold/snow/ice, stick with max performance or ultra high performance summer tires. Extreme Performance if track or autoX are in the cards. Or if you will run in cold/snow/ice, either Ultra high performance all-seasons or winter tires. Tirerack.com has a ton of tire reviews and test data, pick your tire category and check out info there on what tires may be best for you, then maybe run it by the forum again before buying |

THE biggest fuel usage efficiency increase comes from driving in ecomiling way, sedately, not flooring it, trying to not stop and so on.
But if there are used words of fun, progressiveness of how tire looses grip, obviously is driving in way that is anything but saving fuel. Just accept worse fuel economy as unavoidable evil, as small price to pay to be less bored at steering wheel, for fun. No lesser rolling resistance tires will be able to compensate heavy right foot redlining engine and drifting rear end sideways.

I get it. but if I choose tires that are too sporty, the grip will be too much to play with the rear more easily.
I understand that if your usual driving is aggressive and fun then you will consume more, but when you travel on the highway if you can save some more fuel better. In any case, I do not look for a tire that spends little gasoline, and what I am looking for is a 215 tire with similar characteristics to Primacy HP but that improves wet safety. Thanks for the answers. |

Do you mean that version 4 improves wet grip? Why should it be good for other cars but not for Toyobaru?
I appreciate your help. |

Why not go with something like the Hankook Ventus V12 concept2? These offer decent grip in the dry, excellent rain grip, amazing tread wear and are cheap.

Alastor: what makes you think that they will not be good for toyobaru? Just that most probably manufacturers will keep selling cars with tires it came stock with when they were launched. As manufacturers come at such thing as tire choice very carefully, and as they most probably strike some deals with tire manufacturers to get tires in big volumes cheaper, it makes less sense to go through all testing process and to loose some deals behind scenes to switch to other tires at mid-life of car production.

I do not doubt the quality of the tires, what I am looking for is a tire that lets me play at low speed as do the Primacy HP, but have a better grip in the wet. If I choose a sports tire of the type ps4 to play with the rear you will need to increase the speed double or more and therefore the risk is greater.

Pity that you live in warmer country. Nothern countries should solve excess grip problem .. in winter, on ice tracks
