They both do the same thing but with different levels of effectiveness. I can see why you might think having the Forester one to heat the oil up would help with the longer warmup times associated with the oil cooler, but you're probably fine. I'd say if you're tracking your car just stick with the Jackson, if not go with the Forester.

What I'm getting at is that running two oil coolers, like a McDank, is smooshing two things together that were never meant to be together. Sure you can do it, but it's probably not the best choice.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that the oil cooler is part of the radiator / oil cooler combo from Jackson racing.

I’m curious as well. Most cars come with a water/oil cooler, but don’t remove it when adding external coolers, right?

Oh well they're both oil-to-water then yeah? I would say running both is overkill and just adding extra weight and points of failure you don't need. Just stick with the DR/OC, I don't think anyone's had any issues with it not cooling enough. I've seen at least one guy post with a turbo who hasn't had any issues with oil temps since installing it, so it's plenty.

I had an idea like this as well. To combine the Forest XT oil cooler with a regular A2O cooler. My logic being the OEM can get the oil temps up to operating temperature since I've read the A2O do have some trickle flow of oil. Then the regular cooler for additional/ optimal cooling if pushing hard. When I'm not driving really hard on back roads or tracking, I can take the A2O off and then just run the OEM. I'm just not sure on how to fit the thermostatic sandwich from an oil cooler with the oem. I'd need to machine a plate and then find an obscure bolt size to fit.
